accepted from the ROQ-U IP waitlist! don't lose hope guys, I had 52 credits before applying to mcgill, had a 27.692 Rscore Pre-req science in CEGEP, was waitlisted pre-interview, got the interview a month later, got waitlisted post-interview, and just got an offer a month later. ANYTHING can happen, really.
This is such a great success story. Makes me have hope. Loool.

Hi all, I just received an email saying that I was waitlisted for interviews. Just curious if anyone knows how many people are kept on waitlist for interviews? And how many typically get invited off the waitlist? By the way, I am IP! Many thanks in advance!

You can't do well on the MCAT just by memorizing content because the exam is mostly focused on reasoning, and integrating your reasoning skills with your knowledge. If you know your content very well it will certainly help, but that alone will not get you a good score. The books should be used a reference guide than as a main study resource. I recommend doing practice exams right away to find out where you are weak in and then target those areas using the books.

Hi everyone,
I just started studying from Kaplan books and reached a minor dilemma. I covered the first chapter for Biochem today, and wasn't able to find a series of corresponding practice questions that would allow me to consolidate all the info I've read. I have practice passages from Next Step practice books, but they are do not have a focus on particular MCAT topics. Does anyone have any suggestions for practice materials that focus on particular topics? I strongly feel this would help me consolidate the concepts I've read. I know Khan academy has some questions, but I think there are only a few per topic!
...Also, as a side note, I am preparing for the Jan 25th MCAT and I am located in Montreal. If anyone is in the same area and would like to study together, PM me!
Thanks,
D

Hi everyone,
I'm a first year OT student at Mac. I started your class page to get the discussion rolling for housing. I had a lot of trouble last year finding a place while being out of town, so getting started now would be a good idea. If you have any questions regarding the program or housing, feel free to msg me on Facebook. My name is Dillon. You can find me in the group!
The group is called:
McMaster OT Class of 2019
Link below is the fb page, but if that doesn't work just search it up on Facebook!

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Ah, I think I'll have to consider other options since this is the second time getting refused preinterview.

for MDCM or dent?
Dent. This discussion under another tread. If anyone has any further concerns, please just start a new thread. We'll keep this as stats for Regrets/invites 2017.
-
but you got nothing written on your status right?
This is what it says:
"Application Status
Decision Release Date: Feb 03, 2017"
On the flip side it can be an indication of rejection too!
-
I don't get it, why would mine be a status ready for review....probably refused!
No, no. I'm sure it means nothing. We're all hyper-reactive right now because we're all super nervous.
-
Are you IP 0zero for dent?? What does it say on you status? Is it still ready for review?
Yes, I'm IP. Status for DMD says:
Decision Release Date:Feb 03, 2017
And for MDCM:
Status:Ready for Review
-
-
so if we haven't gotten an invite by now, we can expect a refusal
?
No I don't think so. People get their status update for interview at different times of the day, throughout the day. This is my understanding from last year.
-
what would the status look like if you get rejected? because my Status is still 'ready for review'
I'm OOP
Rejection says "Refusal" if I remember correctly. Last year they released invites throughout the day and rejections at the end of the day.
-
I know someone who got an invite.. none on mine yet :/
OOP or IP?
-
TIME STAMP: 08:00PST
Result: Invite
wGPA: 3.83
MCAT: not submitted
ECs: regular volunteer activities, some hospital work experience. PM for details
Year: UG (4)
IP/OOP/International: OOP
Ah this is so exciting. I'm still shaking
Congrats! Did you receive an email or check minerva?
-
Are we receiving answers at midnight or tomorrow during the day?
I expect that we'll hear back during the day before 5pm...but not necessarily tomorrow.
-
11 more days! Unless they release earlier like last year. I think last year I was expecting the results to be released Jan 22 or 23, and they actually dropped the bomb on the 19th.

Uhhh I had a 3.83 GPA and was first quintile for GPA and for CVPN. Maybe they weigh recommended or advanced courses heavily?
This point makes sense to me. I have a hard time believing that 3.95 is second quintile, considering the GPA avg for invitee is usually around ~3.8
-
Hey everyone, as interview invites are coming out soon, I'm starting to psych myself out more and more. I got an interview last cycle and ranked 2nd quintile for GPA and 3rd for CVPN. Knowing that my GPA increased only by 0,02 this year and my CVPN remained the exact same (I submitted the same answers), what would my chances be to get an interview again this cycle?
May I ask what your degGPA was last year? I am curious what range last year's second quintile was. Also, were you second quintile relative to the OOP pool or IP pool? I'd appreciate any info!
-
Hi all, For those of you that have previously submitted a letter of extenuating circumstance, did you receive an email confirming their decision (ie. not accepted, or effected grades omitted from degGPA calculation)? Thanks!
-
My personal bests were 385 bench (touch and go), 225x4 OHP, ~435 squat, and 495 deadlift at 185lbs body weight.

Applied: Mac OT, Western PT
Accepted: Mac OT
Waitlisted: Western PT (lower end of waitlist 120-180)
cGPA (OMSAS): ~3.7subGPA (OMSAS): 3.85
Perceived strength of essays/interviews/references:
- Western required a personal statement (PS) and two letters of recommendation (LOR), no interview. For the PS, they asked three questions, of which I think one answer was strong, and the other two were really weak. LORs were also really weak. No PT experience at all.
- For Mac, I did not have a stellar interview. I thought it was mediocre.
Can't wait to meet the other Mac OT students!
