  1. I don't mind looking it over either, but can't guarantee I can help much beyond checking for spelling/grammar mistakes!
  2. It was the parent of a special needs child I worked with. They said something along the lines of "through working with our daughter she had demonstrated good communication, compassion, patience etc... without actually giving any examples of what I actually did. And they they didn't talk about whether they thought I would make a good doctor. Would admissions in this case contact them and ask them to explain further?
  3. So one of my referees just mailed in my reference letter today, and then sent me a copy of the letter they wrote. I am very grateful for their letter, but it was extremely short and didn't provide any examples (they simply stated the traits I had) even though I gave them an outline and particularly emphasized what the schools looked for. However, they marked me as "top 5%" on the OMSAS evaluation form in every category, but didn't really explain/support their marking in the letter. How big of an impact would this have on my application? Has anyone gotten an interview with a weak reference lett
  4. Does anyone know if Queens prefer their own students? I looked at their admission stats and 30/100 are from Queens and only 20 from UofT, 11 from Mac and other schools having much lower numbers. https://meds.queensu.ca/blog/undergraduate/?p=2329
  5. Yeah you can't change it once's made into PDF form. Definitely contact them first, and get their full and accurate contact info.
  6. Does anyone know if we can apply during our 3rd year of a 4 year program? On their website it says "To apply to the undergraduate MD program, a four-year degree in any discipline from an accredited university is required. Although candidates with three-year degrees are occasionally admitted, a four-year degree is strongly preferred.". I emailed them 2 weeks ago, but haven't yet received a reply.
  7. Has anyone had a reference that submitted a hand-written letter? One of mine doesn't have easy access to a printer. Also, in the context of "on their usual stationary", would that just be regular printer paper for someone who works a blue-collar job? Thanks!!
  8. If I took lessons for an instrument in highschool, then stopped in university but still practice ~30 mins a day, who should I put as a verifier? The instructor for the part in highschool, then myself for the part in university? But then I would have to kinda split it up, and I don't want to come across as padding. Or should I just put it in "other" instead of "EC"?
  9. How do you guys deal with regret/ getting over mistakes? I know mistakes are normal, need to get over them and learn from them, etc. but i just CAN'T. instead they play over and over over again in my head. i thought it would get better with age/maturity, but it really doesn't
  10. just had a crappy exam... and it was my elective for this semester. SIGH..
  11. Hi, So I'm thinking of switching my major next year (3rd year), and will have to take some 200 level courses (and 1 100 level) to satisfy the new major. Does anyone know if schools frown upon taking lower-level courses? Any rules about how many lower-year courses we can take? Thanks for any input!!!
  12. only 2 full years, skipped the first year of university due to transfer credits. (so essentially doing a 4 year program in 3 years)? Do you think the weighing would still apply?
  13. Does anyone know if you're eligible for weighing (ie, removal of 6 low marks) if you technically only completed 2 full years of undergrad but am applying in the final year of your undergrad? (had IB credits that corresponded to first year courses) ?
  14. does quebec count as OOP? Ie, even harder to get in?
