OMSAS reference letters stopped?!

How would this impact grad applicants? Would we still need to have our supervisor write a letter? -

Paying for US med school tuition?
purplemermaid replied to purplemermaid's topic in Applying to American Schools
Thanks for getting back to me Meridian. Are there good schools that I can attend for less that 400K? I'm including all the costs, i.e. tuition, rent, textbooks, etc. My parents are willing to help me as much as they can, but I think that is maybe up to maximum 100-200K. Would I be able to get the LOC if they are my co-signers? What are the implications of that? -
Do you guys have any advice on how to pay for tuition/cost of living overall for US med schools? Looks like the cost will be around 400-500K in Canadian dollars.. so how does someone pay for this?? (coming from a middle-income family, Asian therefore ORM). Are there scholarships available for Canadian students attending US med schools? From what it looks like, the largest loan you can get is 275K...so how would you find the rest of the money? Also, how long would it take to pay off this debt? Please feel to correct me if I cited anything wrong. I think I have decent chances to get into a

I need to include a minor note about my transcript in the academic explanation part of the applications. I think I may have a minor anxiety disorder (self-diagnosed, have an appointment soon with doctor to find out more).. Is that going to be a red flag on my application? Should I avoid putting this down in case they may think that I cannot handle the stress?

Hi guys, I was wondering how you convinced your mentors (i.e. lab PIs, professors, etc.) to support you on your path to medicine? How did you convince them to support you to become an MD rather than pursuing a career in research/academia for example? I'm asking because I'm trying to get my PIs (who are also MDs) to support my efforts to pursue medicine instead of getting a PhD (or even an MD/PhD). What challenges have you guys had regarding research supervisors (or other mentors) who have a strong opinion on you joining their field of work instead of medicine?

Hi guys, I know lots of people have been posting these already so I was hoping to get some feedback as well. I just finished my 4th year of UG and I decided to do a 5th year to bump up my GPA. For reference, my GPA is: 1st year GPA: 3.52 2nd year: 3.743rd year: 3.79 4th year: 3.83UofT wGPA: 3.86Queens (2YGPA): 3.81MCAT 1st try: 504 (127/122/128/127); Retake: 510 (130/125/126/129) Although my GPA trend shows an upward trend, it wasn't ever a great improvement to 3.9+ so it sucks I kind of plateaued there, but hopefully I can get at least a 3.9 in my 5th year if I really just

'Special Student' status in fifth year?
purplemermaid replied to BipolarBearr's topic in General Premed Discussions
Yeah I didn't graduate. Do you think I should contact schools to verify if they check if my 5th year courses are degree or non-degree?- 33 replies

'Special Student' status in fifth year?
purplemermaid replied to BipolarBearr's topic in General Premed Discussions
@rmorelan Is it okay if I'm doing a 5th year, but technically already did the required courses for my degree? As long as I follow the 3/5 rule and still continue taking courses related to my program, would the school be able to verify if the courses I took were "non-degree courses"??- 33 replies

purplemermaid replied to sonyvaio2700's topic in Applying to American Schools
Does anyone know the Western scale? i.e. is it really: 80+ = A = 4.0 70-80 = B = 3.0 etc.
