Since we can't go backwards in time (wish we could) there's not much one can do.
If you find it comforting, I personally am a huge fan of applicants who worked more than volunteered. I think volunteerism is a good thing but it is 100% overrated. Having done both, I think I learned SIGNIFICANTLY more working in a fast food restaurant than bring patients their cloths post-surgery.
Also, a decent adcom should look at your file and notice your Msc (combined with dals "beautiful" 5 year year rule) , which would explain your "lack" of volunteerism

I see... in that case just to let you know that AAMC's vol.1 is much harder than vol. 2. Its good that your looking into CARS this early, however if I could go back in time I would definitely expand my vocabulary, the MCAT will use ambiguous words in the answer chocies to scare you or to conceal the right answer, and sometimes that ambiguous word in the passage is key to understand tone/opinion. If you don't pick up on those subtle ques, you'll have a hard time scoring 127+

CARS is the hardest section for prep companies to duplicate, and each company has a different set of people writing those passages, each with their own advantages and flaws.
80% on EK's is very good! keep on working on TPR and try to get your hands on Nextstep's matieral, diversifying to me seems the 'safest' approach . If you truly want to know where you are at, the only way you could do that is by doing AAMC's scored exams... but I suggest you save them for last (but not too late)

Yeah TPR is not predictive at all and is overly obsessed with details (same goes to kaplan's FL). I highly recommend any other company expect gold standard and mcgrawhill

Will you be able to get into medical school with very hard work, short answer yes.

    Long answer:

The fact you have gotten an A+ and A's shows you have the brainpower, so dont give up! Since its private, I won't ask, but is there someone you could talk too about your depression and motivation? the application process takes a serious toll  (mcat, interviews and the rest of your undergrad) let alone medical school itself is much harder. So before you embark on this crazy journey, I would be more worried about that end of life.

In the case where you maintain a full course load (which is strongly believe you can achieve), kill 3rd and 4th year, maybe even do a 5th year - you could be in a good shape for several schools. If you will want to do a masters, I know certain programs look at your last two years, and if you land a research-based one, I strongly believe that networking and building a good relationship with a potential supervisor can override low grades.

Plus, don't forget that the MCAT can open more doors.

You can most definitely get the MCAT out the way with self-studying. Im sure you can find ebooks for half the price or buy them second hand.

There are also many great angels (literately) on Youtube, who don't have official MCAT labelled videos, but nonetheless cover the same EXACT topics. For example, this guy helped me get through physics: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiGxYawhEp4QyFcX0R60YdQ

Having taken the course two years ago - I am really happy they changed it, that was perhaps the worst course I have taken.

If you really don't think you can pull off a 79.5 in the course (expect a bell curve, I know they did for all sections), drop it but make sure to take an extra course in winter.

Seems like you did the best you can do. Not surprised hear the whole situation with course director, its what they do best!

hartk48 reacted to macd in 1 Year Thesis Masters?
I finished my thesis based master's in 1 year. It's definitely busy, but possible if you have a supportive supervisor that knows your goal to finish in 1 year. I had also done a lot of work before starting that helped things go smoother for my actual thesis. Also, you should check with the department because every program has a minimum amount of time you can be enrolled in your master's to finish - mine was 12 months.
