Thank-you so much, this was very helpful. Given that I know so little about the MCAT, I was nervous that the study materials would not be a good indication of what is on the exam itself. I continue to question how much overlap there will be between KAPLAN and the exam. Do you think as long as I have a thorough understanding of what subjects/questions are in the study books, however specific, I will be sufficiently prepared for the exam? I truly haven't touched physics since high school, and can't remember a darn thing. Did a bit of biochem in high school and some in more recent bio courses, bu

Hey guys, I am a total noob when it comes to the MCAT. Looking for some advice. I am going to be buying my study materials on Monday. My options are: (1) The Princeton Review MCAT Subject Review complete set, 2nd ed + 7 complete ebooks covering every exam schedule (2) KAPLAN MCAT 528 Advanced Prep, 500+ advanced MCAT practice questions If you were a student with a limited science background, which would you go for? Are you familiar with either of these? Thank-you so much.

Help! How similar are the MCAT books to the exam itself?

I really appreciate the replies. I opened a few MCAT books whilst standing in the bookstore and felt instantly intimidated... saw equations that i've never encountered before. I feel comfortable with bio but haven't touched physics in 8 years! I guess its time to get to it. -

I know this should be posted in the MCAT section, but I have not received any replies. Hoping this will attract more attention. Apologies! -- I recently overheard someone say that they got through the MCAT by memorizing the most recent edition of KAPLAN learning resources. This lends me to ask... How similar are the newest MCAT books to the exam itself? Any idea? My science background is not nearly as strong as some, and I wonder how much I will gain from memorizing the concepts in the MCAT prep books. Hoping for some guidance from someone who used the kaplan o

I nearly bought the the Princeton Review books today, which cover all subjects that will appear on the MCAT. I recently overheard someone say that they got through the MCAT by memorizing the most recent edition of KAPLAN learning resources. This lends me to ask... How similar are the newest MCAT books to the exam itself? Anyone have any idea? thank-you

Medical schools that look at CARS only?
med_ical replied to med_ical's topic in General Premed Discussions
I didn't notice this, thanks. Do you think a resident of Ontario would likely have their entire MCAT score evaluated, or only CARS? -
I am aware that McMaster looks only at your CARS score. I am under the impression that Calgary is the same way. Does anyone know what other schools consider CARS only? Thank-you!

It is my understanding that Queen’s 2 year GPA calculation looks at courses (minimum 3) completed between September and April. I am guessing the answer to this question is no, but does anyone know if 1 semester (4 credits) would be considered? I’m planning on calling the school on Monday, but I’m just curious. thanks!
