  1. UofA has a shiny new curriculum that's been in the works for the past couple of years that was implemented in my first year. We're getting the dentistry somewhat earlier compared to previous curriculum. So you would have done wax ups, tooth anatomy, and an introduction to occlusion by the time you reach the winter break of 1st year. You'll start drilling and learning about operative among other things once you go back in January. I think the original plan was to get us seeing patients a lot earlier but COVID messed that up. The 1st years going into 2nd year will be a better indicator of what t
  2. Cost? Berta or maritime life? Proximity to family and significant others? Differences in curriculum and clinical experiences? Campus life (or whatever is left of it from grinding labs, clinics, and studying)? Ideas of where you want to settle down once you're finished? You left it pretty open but I'm sure you considered some of these already. I can be the UofA counterpart to the above poster as I'm coming into the halfway point of the program. Shoot a message if you have any questions
  3. Didn't need a cosigner for mine when I shopped around 2 years ago. I don't work either so I'm not sure why the bank is asking for that. Try to find the designated person that handles this kind of financing specifically. Bank branches will have a specific contact for the people who deal with med/dent student LOCs specifically so best to scour their websites for that and go from there.
  4. I want to say around 10? Definitely not all the spots though. I'm sure someone that lurks the forum will correct me. Early was mid-late May. Regular admissions and waitlists were around late June. The latest they generally accept is late July but I've heard of someone getting called in the first day of school so don't lose hope! It for sure feels like the university is simmering the applicants with that wait. Don't be like me and obsessively check the forum and your e-mail for the entire summer. You've all done all that you can at this point so try to distract yourself with some
  5. Not entirely sure on the number. There's 2 in my year but I've got no idea about the others. I always thought it was about 1-2 OOP per year
  6. Expect early admin decisions around late May for just a couple of spots. The rest of the spots and waitlist are released throughout June and July with people deciding on accepting and declining their offers and what not.
  7. Degree doesn't matter. As long as you hit the pre-reqs and hit all those other requirements you are golden. People came in from different backgrounds like engineering, nursing, and business just to name a few. Best of luck to anyone that got an invite this year!
  8. Dw about the stat increase. There's always going to be some kind of variation so just do the best that you can. My GPA was very slightly below the mean GPA for the 2nd and 3rd time I applied and my DAT was around the average too. If you're hovering around the mean for stats, you should be able to snag an interview invite and go from there.
  9. Third time's a charm after all. Just got in off WL this morning via e-mail. My stats are posted above.
  10. Hello WL again. 3.88, 70, 32 I guess I get another year to work on my nervous demeanor and my incompetence with the MMIs unless WL pulls through. My GPA is more or less hardstuck and I don't have it in me to rewrite the DAT a 4th time. Lots of stuff on my mind but I'll be distracting myself in the meantime hoping for the best but expecting the worst. Congrats to everyone that managed to get in.
  11. I got the same response. Give them a while to get around to us rejects. They'll get around to us eventually once they get their 2023 class affairs settled.
  12. I was part of the last interview weekend at the 3pm slot. Vicki had said definitely by the end of March during our exit interview. I don't remember hearing a March 11 during the conversation. She had mentioned that they were going to have 2 or so meetings to discuss it and that one of the meetings would have been last Friday. Now whether that's the first of them or the last them I can't say for sure.
  13. Yeah the MMI questions were pretty vanilla compared to what I've gotten from past interviews. This interview was first time I didn't feel terrible about my responses. Of course I could've explained things a bit better but for me it's an improvement compared to when I've applied the first 2 times. Hopefully it turns out well for everyone.
