  1. Thanks for the help guys. I guess I'll just work for a high GPA in the following years while maintaining my volunteering schedule for EC's and see what options are available to me after that.

Sorry about the double post (can't yet edit my posts), didn't notice that you wrote a good 5th year grade would make me competitive for Ottawa (potentially, depending on weighting), ignore that part of my response then haha. Anyways, I'm definitely keen on improving my GPA for a shot at Canadian schools first. Just wanted to gauge exactly how uphill the battle towards competitiveness will end up being for me.

I hate to have to get into desperate hypotheticals, but are most Ontario schools (including Ottawa, Mac, and UofT) still out of the equation given a strong result in my fifth year? I'm aware of the GPA bottleneck created by my earlier years, but I'm wondering about the extent to which a strong upward GPA trend has on my chances (if at all), given I'm not auto-filtered out of the applicant pool by their computers?   4. Hello everyone, as I understand it currently I am not competitive for any Canadian medical school. I started off my undergrad with a horrible gpa that has trended upwardly up until my third year. Here's the breakdown: First year - 2.8 (And I hate myself for this) Second year - 3.64 Third year - 3.79 This leaves my cGPA (unweighted) at 3.41, which isn't competitive anywhere, as I understand it.   5. Hey, I'm a Canadian premed student who's currently in a bit of a pickle. I'm considering dropping a course in which I have received a mark of 81% on the first midterm, but am anticipating a somewhat lower mark (~60 ish?) on the second midterm, though there's no valid evidence that I would necessarily achieve such a low mark, apart from the empty feeling in my stomach recalling myself winging a somewhat highly weighted question.
