  1. Reject. IP Time stamp 2:30 EST. Was told my CASPer was average but I had a Low CARS score so didn't expect much. I have a masters with 3.8 GPA and about 8 first author publications but I think this isn't even looked at at Mac so I didn't expect an interview. Good luck to everyone else!
  2. I have an extensive research background (10 first author publications, MSc, 30,000+ in funding, etc). I found out that some med schools don't "really care" about this but put more emphasis on GPA (figured) but also volunteering and work come before research. My GPA is okay but not competitive - that made me think that I should try for a MD/PhD instead where it is viewed more in my favour. What schools have a separate pool for MD/PhD applicants? I don't think I am a competitive applicant if I am competing against other MD applicants but I might be in a smaller pool with just MD/PhD applicants?
  3. At Carleton you can take ten additional courses once you've graduated and they will count it as a second degree. I'm planning to do this but not if schools wont count it as a second degree?
  4. I got an email today that the next year of medical school for a Caribbean medical school will be online. I was then thinking that it seems unlikely that travel from Canada to these countries will be allowed any time in the near future. I wonder if the schools could transition to entirely online for the entire 4 years? If this were to happen do you think more people would consider attending them?
  5. Thanks so much! I already have 5 courses in progress from another degree. When do you think the best time would be for me to fit in courses? Would it be realistic to expect acceptance for the next cycle? (not the one that the deadline just passed)
  6. Thanks so much! Do you know how many courses would I have to take for a second undergrad? I already started a second undergrad in 2014 and did 5 courses. I only did those courses because I was going to do clinical psychology. Would it look bad if I resumed from 2014? Do programs still look at your first degree if you do a second?

  8. I think my current GPA is like a 3 or even a 2.9 my masters GPA is a 3.84 so it sucks...
  9. Sorry! My first two years my average was like a 70 but the last two years its an 80. My overall average now is about a 75.
  10. Hi. I started my undergrad in 2011 and graduated in 2015. My first two years of university were poor and affected my GPA by a lot. My last 2 years were better and as such I got accepted into masters programs (since most only look at last 2 years). I still don't think my overall undergrad GPA is good enough for med school. My masters gpa is 3.8 and I have 4 first-author publications and 5 published abstracts (11 total publications) and over $35,000 in awards and scholarships/funding. I know my background is strong for academia but not med school. I'm working in research now but keep longing for
  11. I saw Athabasca offers it but you have to fly to Alberta for the lab? lol. I dont think with COVID that is going ahead. Does anyone know anywhere that offers organic chem online with the lab that Mcgill will accept?
  12. Great! Honestly I've found McGill to be the easiest school to apply to. OMSAS was such a headache lol
  13. I also put my name so now I'm worried too lol. I put my first initial and last name and bolded it with the author authors to demonstrate I was first author. Will this be a problem?
  14. I havent taken organic chem yet but I've taken all other courses. If I took organic chem next semester but still applied Nov 1 is that fine?
  15. Thanks! I applied to MUN, Western, Toronto, NOSM, and McMaster.
  16. I applied to 5 schools and I am regretting not applying to more. Are any schools still accepting applicants?
  17. Hello. I applied to only 5 medical schools but now I am regretting not applying to more. Are any schools still accepting applicants?
  18. Hello. I know NOSM looks for people from rural backgrounds specifically rural ontario. I'm from Newfoundland and both my parents are from extremely small towns (pop 500) in Newfoundland. I mentioned my experience visiting these towns and having family there. Also Newfoundland is obviously not considered rural but its not a huge metropolitan province either. Further, I have a masters researching addiction treatment and I mentioned in my application that NOSMs mission is to help vulnerable populations so I'm hoping that will help me too. Should I completely give up on the hope of this school if
  19. I am IP so does this mean if I dont hear today then its unlikely I'll get an interview?
  20. Hello. I have a Msc and 12 first-author publications so I'm wondering will I have a better chance of getting accepted to med school if I decide to pursue the MD/phD option instead of just MD?
  21. Yeah I also work from home during the day lol. I will try noise cancelling headphones
