How hard is it to match to U of T as a McGill student?
guest123 replied to unreal's topic in CaRMS and CaRMS applications
I do not agree. I don't know where you got that info from, it's as if you are a troll. I have friends who are residents at UofT and told me that most of the residents are from UofT med. -

If you go to UofT med, your chances to match to UofT would be significantly increased due to home school advantage -

They will have to drop multiple offers soon since you can only hold 1 medical school acceptance.

McGill vs U of T for med?
guest123 replied to Total Gunner's topic in General Ontario Discussions (OMSAS)
It doesn't matter if a lot of people are coming from CEGEP. They still have a lot of the same experience in med school such as research and connections. A lot of them specialize as well. Also, unlike some mature students the Med-P are in no rush to finish residency since they are slightly younger, so they are willing to go for a longer residency in order to specialize. -

Based on this question, I assume you are not from QC and live in another province? If you don't speak french, then in my opinion UofT is a better choice since it is just as prestigious of a med school. Even if you would speak french, UofT has so many affiliated hospitals and is in Toronto (for many people Toronto>>> Montreal). If you go to McGill, in a short period of time you must be functional in french since it is a safety issue in hospitals and to patients if you cannot. In regards to residency in Quebec, the interviews are in french at the QC schools besides McGill and for McGi -

No, the other reason does not apply to me as I am completing my masters. I mentioned it in general for other candidates who may be facing challenges due to COVID. There is no need to be so rude for no reason, your attitude is noticed by others as well. update: I just went on your profile and the comments you write on threads are extremely harsh.

I get what you mean, but due to the novel situation people may have their own personal obligations and situations. We do not know what everyone is going through. Stay safe!

Hi, Thanks. I have to finish my Masters degree as well. I was supposed to complete it this year but it is delayed due to COVID, so that counts as a legitimate reason.

Hi, McGill has announced that fall 2020 will be online. (perhaps our whole 1st year too at this rate) Is anyone considering to try to defer a year if you got accepted already? Due to how significantly next year will be impacted by COVID?

Do you have to complete your masters to enroll?
guest123 replied to Total Gunner's topic in McGill Medical School
Hi, Admissions would allow you to defer your admission to finish your masters and start the MD CM program the next year. Finishing your masters can be beneficial, and many people choose to finish it before coming to medical school, as it will make you more competitive for residency programs, plus you will get your masters degree engraved on your white coat. -

I got accepted to McGill med. I am thinking to defer. Did anyone submit a deferral request yet? How long did it take to get approved?
