Long time lurker who finally took the plunge and made an account. Hopefully I can start contributing to the community in the coming months!

    Timestamp: 10:31 am (Atlantic)
    2YRS/cGPA: 4.0/3.99
    MCAT:  521 (130/127/132/132)
ECs: Sometimes I think they're diverse/strong, but unsure. Variety of varsity athletics, volunteering, research, etc. PM for details!
Interview: Rough, to say the least. I dropped my phone in the lobby and shattered the screen just before entering the MMI circuit. First two stations were abysmal, don't even remember the subsequent 4. Panel was phenomenal though, so maybe more than just red-flag check? (speculation)

Incredibly shocked to have received an offer given how I felt about my interview performance. Maybe goes to show how bad we are at self-evaluating our performance? Queens was my first choice going into this process, but now trying to decide between Queens vs U of T (leaning Queens). Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated!  Good luck to all those on the waitlist!

I think considering it as an MMI prompt is relevant because it shifts the focus from "Me, me, me" to "Let's look at this situation and balance the pros and cons". We seem to be wired to think of ourselves first so viewing things through a MMI lens would help avoid expressing our own selfish feelings, and then being forced to try and contort our original line of argument after being called out for our selfishness into some vague generalized statement...
I'm not sure what to say to your cynicism towards the MMI/interviews and CASPer but I definitely have answered with the same opinions I've expressed both in-person and online prior to being "tested" on it. Maybe I was doing it wrong. I'd like to think if someone ever put 2 and 2 together I'd have nothing to go and delete or hide, anonymity shouldn't be an excuse for letting negative feelings flow freely.
As far as "discussing" what's your alternative? Some changes would be good, what about an OMSAS fee waiver program like the AAMC has? I personally find it kinda funny (in a head shaking way) that schools beat the drum for low SES initiatives and haven't done anything to their fees (yet).
It's very easy to point out flaws and say the best course of action is to burn it all down. It's an entirely different approach to suggest improvements. What does an "inclusive and individualized approach" look like in practice? How do OMSAS schools go from 5,000 applications to 500 interviews? Why is that system "best" ("favours me/my type of applicant" isn't a valid a priori reason, there needs to be some principle behind it)?

@yesandno No one is saying your situation doesn't matter. Of course it sucks that you do well this semester and it's not counted. Anyone in your shoes would agree. HOWEVER, you have to realize that we are in a midst of a pandemic. This is probably the first time medical schools and the admissions committee had to resort to such measures. There are plenty of things that happened that people might consider to be unfair. For example, people had their interviews cancelled (what if they shined at interviews but not as much on paper?). Remember you aren't the only one affected by this pandemic. Maybe look at the bigger picture instead of focusing on inclusion of 5 courses on a stupid transcript.
Negating the winter semester marks was the way they thought was MOST fair to the students. I can assure you that this decision was not made lightly and that they discussed this at length.
And "I think med. schools need to be way more flexible with premeds."
No, they don't. No one owes anyone anything. Medical school doesn't owe you flexibility. If you don't like it, don't apply. There are thousands of premeds who would gladly take a spot.
I'm sorry but with this attitude, where it's always about "me, me, me", you would not get very far in the medical community. With that attitude, you'd get eaten alive even if you, one-day, managed to get into medical school. You might consider CASPer to be bs, but at least people who succeed in it know to look at multiple perspectives of a situation.
Honest advice, I don't even know if it's worth applying this year for you. Unless you are able to see what is wrong in the statements you've made so far, your attitude is not going to get you far. I'm almost 100% sure that it's not going to fly at the interviews. Save your money, reflect, and come back when you are ready to grow up.

Not a uOttawa student personally but Queen's Admissions was able to provide me with a letter outlining my anticipated enrolment/graduation timeline. That was enough for my Scotia advisor to give me access to my LOC

They're defs wrong. I worked with an advisor for UOttawa (look up Kyu Tompkins at Scotia) and he hooked me up with an LOC, gold Amex and the Visa Infinite Passport right away. I don't think you need to be at uOttawa to work with him, or he can refer you to someone who knows their stuff better.
