UBC MCAT Deadline
hopefullyme replied to johnnyboy13291's topic in University of British Columbia Medical School
@johnnyboy13291 Yea, a lot of people are probably emailing asking the same questions we are haha. And a lot of other Canadian schools and US ones have made the necessary accomadations as a result of covid so I hope UBC follows suit. -
UBC MCAT Deadline

I emailed them to ask but no response yet. I think in April or May they said that they'll update us on any covid related changes by early/mid June but it's almost July so who knows. -
Any idea when OAS opens?

I heard it was supposed to be early/mid-june but it's almost July so who knows. I wonder if they'll be extending the MCAT deadline like other schools in Canada and the US because of covid? -

hopefullyme reacted to a post in a topic: Changes to Who is Considered a Grad Applicant?
-
Hey everyone, I don't know if this is a new thing but I saw on the U of T admissions page that graduate applicants include those who completed a course-based masters. My previous understanding was that you're considered for the grad pool only if you published as a first author during your course based masters. Is that still the case or is the completion of the masters sufficient now? TIA

Thank-you for the replies everyone, seeing all your comments is giving me hope! My GPA is decent I think (~90%) if I calculated correctly and I think my ECs are pretty diverse as well. There's just something about the MCAT that just terrifies me haha. But I'm trying to get as much practice in as I can this summer and hoping for the best!

Regrets with Above Average Interview
hopefullyme replied to ketamine's topic in University of British Columbia Medical School
Butterfly_ I'm planning on taking the MCAT this fall (studying with Kaplan & Khan academy) with very minimal science background (intro bio and chem) and I was wondering how long you prepped for the exam and what materials you used as a fellow non-sci student? -

Fellow arts students?
hopefullyme replied to feelingjovani's topic in Non-Traditional Applicants/Grad Students
I'm a non-trad applying as well, with very little science exposure. Would love to know more about the approach you took and the tools you used. Pm'ing you if that's okay! -

Hey FeelingJovani! I don't have advice for you but I am in the same boat as you! I did my undergrad in Psych and HealthSci and my Msc in Global Health. The only science courses I have are intro bio and chem from over 5 years ago now. I'm planning on taking the MCAT this September and have been self-studying. If you want a study partner or accountability buddy hit me up!
