hopefulpremed98 got a reaction from edu2021 in M.D.,C.M. - Basic Cardiac Life Support Mandatory Formation (2021)
I had the same problem. Because of covid a lot of clinics aren't doing immunization forms and the clscs are just refusing to do it. I called my clsc and they put me on a waitlist and never got back to me. I called even went to a walk in clinic and they said to go to the CLSC lol. I ended up going to a private clinic and just paying for them to fill the form and give me whatever vaccines and blood tests I needed.

It was a prerecorded interview last year too. Just gonna say it shows in the first year class that some people really benefitted from that kind of interview...

They changed it for future cycles too. Prereq Gpa doesn’t really matter anymore, the only thing that matters post interview is your actual interview. They did it to explicitly make it the same as how the cégep stream works, and that was the reason for the change, not COVID. Hope that helps

No McGill does not heavily weigh ECs. It makes up only 10% of the pre interview score.

I'm not sure how you're coming to that conclusion, especially the estimation of 4000-5000 QC university applicants (even as a total of all applicants across all cohorts I think 4-5k is too high). Last year there were 1035 total applicants in the QC University cohort, of which 76% (~790ish) proceeded to file review. This information is corroborated not only by the statistics they published on their website last year (which is still posted), but also by what was sent out to refused applicants who requested their rank.

They've updated the admissions statistics for the current cycle on the McGill website. Looks like it was an even more competitive year with way more applicants in all categories. Looking at how its going soon you're going to have to have a 4.0 just to get an interview

I think this is an example where your casper is the reason you were refused. McGill uses it both as a part of their evaluation and they also use it as a cutoff, so if you didnt have a great Casper, even with stellar grades you could be refused. I'm sorry to hear about it, but 3.74/ 4 seems great!

TIME STAMP: Checked at 1:00pm but checked at 11:30 and nothing then
    Result: Invite!!
    GPA:3.95
ECs (CV):very basic. I didn’t have volunteering or anything special. The only thing I thought was good was my work history which I’ve had since high school. Not impressive jobs, i worked customer service and retail. I had one NSERC USRA and I got a second author pub from it but other than that my cv was pretty much just work. Hope that helps comfort people that only worked during uni cause it made me panic that I didn’t have all those great ECs other people had.
Year: Completed undergrad, first year of professional program
Feelings about Casper:  I thought it went well. I’m a slow typer ( literally type with my index fingers) but I thought it was way better than I did last year. I knew it was what held me back last year so 2 weeks before my test I spent all day practice typing and doing practice tests. Mostly just eventually I got tired and did like 3-4 example scenarios a day but it helped me with pacing. I got up to like 35 wpm so have some faith slow typers haha. Best tip is to read over your answers or atleast someone else’s to a scenario because you learn to quickly recognise what’s a good response and a bad one.
    Applicant category: QC university.

One last comment, I was fully prepared to give up if I didn’t get an interview this cycle cause nearly everyone I know in med school now has a doctor parent or could have years of research, pubs and volunteering so I’m really glad I got it. Just want to say you clearly don’t need the sterotypical premed ECs

I don’t think so. So far 1 oop got an interview and 1 ip got a rejection so if that were true we would see the rejections already. I think they might be doing it 1 by 1. Last year they mostly came out at 10. One of my friends got an update before me last year

    Heure : 8h40 (courriel: 22h02)
Catégorie de candidature : QC universitaire
    Résultat : Refus
    MPG : 3,8 ish

They don’t look at individual class grades. They look at your overall gpa. So yes you still have a chance. It’s not ideal as it lowers your gpa but you’re not going to be rejected because of a c+
