  1. I know one person who is for sure withdrawing their queens OT offer their just waiting for something
  2. Has anyone’s status changed on the GSMS portal? Mine still says pre screening and I got my confirmation last week via email
  3. I upgraded my GPA a LOT lol. And I got into 3 schools this year and waitlisted at one OT and one PT! What I did was took a bunch of online courses through Thompson rivers university. It’s easy and convenient! Redoing courses doesn’t change your gpa I don’t think. I think you’re better off to just take new ones that you’re interested and think you can do well in!
  4. It will help. Like if you imagine your application with many hours working with vulnerable people, you can always relate it to PT. And you’ll watch PT’s work even if it isn’t formal shadowing and you can draw on those experiences of observing their scope of practice. I think whatever volunteer experience you can get working with vulnerable people is great. Plus, it’s better than absolutely nothing if you’re unable to get into clinics!
  5. Try long term care!! Like think outside of the normal physio clinic box at places like long term rehab facilities and places like that. Those places can always use more help and it’s still patient related and very applicable to PT; in fact, many PT’s work in SNF’s/LTC’s
  6. I was in the top. My gpa isn’t amazing it was like maybe a 3.6 or 3.7 depending how they calculated it. However I have years of work experience in health care as a nurse which I think helped
  7. I got off the U of A OT waitlist last week so there is definitely movement! Hopefully you’re up soon!
  8. Hello, I asked ORPAS and they said that was it. I emailed queens and was told yes that’s all we do and that next steps will be emailed to us from the OT assistant. However it doesn’t hurt to ask ORPAS to make sure!
  9. Oh yes I know that too haha it makes me so nervous!
  10. I think it is too... it’s very quick and sorta stressful as it barely gives us enough time to get it all sent
  11. For those accepted to U of A OT, did you print form, hand write it, and mail the acceptance form/calgary cohort part (if applicable) along with your cheque, or did you email the form to the office and then physically mail the cheque? I’m just unsure if the forms should be physically mailed together or if the written parts should be emailed. Thanks!!
