  1. Preparing for the MMI December 30, 2016 University of Saskatchewan Disclaimer: Please check the admissions website for the most up to date information http://medicine.usask.ca/admission-to-the-md-program/how-to-apply.php This is a recount of how I prepared and may not work for everyone. Following this guide completely will not guarantee that you will get into medicine. The intent is to give you a good shot at getting into medicine. If you continue, you are using this document at your own risk. Table of

  3. Worried about your upcoming interviews? Want some extra pointers on presentation, organization, and approach outside of practicing by yourself or with pre-med groups? I am offering online interview prep over Skype and can help identify your strengths and areas of improvement. I am quite honest in my feedback to my students and if I see that we aren't meeting the same progress goals, I am happy to help you find other avenues of help. I am a current medical student and interviewed at schools in both Canada and the US. I am familiar with MMI, MPI, panel, and traditional interviews.
  4. anyone in Ottawa interested in practicing for mmi in person?

  6. Hello, I'm preparing for my MMI Skype interview with the University of Sydney for dentistry, and I'm still not sure exactly how the MMI will work. I understand that the interview will consist of 5 questions of 7 mins each. In between there is a 2 min break, bringing the total interview time to around 45 min. My confusion is over the difference compared to a traditional MMI (2 mins prep/8 mins answer). During the USyd MMI we will be given the question by the interviewer at the start of the 7 mins while we are already face to face over skype. What do I do then? Is it normal to sit ther
  7. The following is how I, as a current Canadian medical school student, would go about preparing for medical school interviews.Other people may prepare themselves differently. Some people even say that you cannot prepare for medical school interviews. The multiple mini interview (MMI), for example, is often thought to be impossible to prepare for. I am here to tell you that practice makes perfect. This applies to everything in life. Whether it involves preparing for an organic chemistry test, preparing to give a speech in front of an audience, or practicing for an upcoming driving test, practice
  8. Hi, Here are a couple of books that I've used during my MMI preparation. I wouldn't say these books are what got me accepted but they certainly helped me out when I didn't really know where to begin in my early years of MMI practice. (Used, notes made with pencil erased) Multiple Mini Interview Questions Book by MSC Medical at $25: I believe it is about $65 if purchased directly through the website. This book comprises of 37 case scenarios of various types, sample answers and explanations. (Brand New) Medical School Interviews by Olivier Picard and George Lee, ISC Medical, 2nd
  9. Hi, I am looking for a medical student who is willing to teach me MMI skills one on one. I am willing to pay for MMI coach, who can help me out for the next few months. Please message me your prices and your locations. I am preparing for interviews at several medical schools in Western Canada. Thank you
  10. I was just wondering if anyone got their results for mcgill medicine for premed?
  11. Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has an idea of what McGill is looking for in Cégep applicants in the multiple mini interviews. Like are they trying to get a feel for who you are / what your personality is or are they actually concerned with your logic/critical thinking/knowledge? Because I said some stupid things in my interview as I misunderstood a question or two for example. So I am wondering if I should count myself out because I made myself sound dumb a few times or if they don't actually care about the answer itself? Thanks so much
  12. Be a Vivo Mentor Vivo Mentor is an online community that connects students interested in medicine with medical students and residents. We are a new venture started by two family medicine residents at the University of Toronto. We have already seen huge success and we would love to build on that with your help! As medical students, you have an inherent sense of what it takes to get into medical school. You already made it! That being said, we provide you with additional resources to support you. We are currently paying $40 per hour as a token of appreciation for your hard work in helpi
  13. Hi, I was wondering if anybody tought (or did) drink few shots before interviews. Just enough to still be in control. But enough to be confident. I was thinking that it will boost your confidence in the interviews, you'll respond with more tact and look more sincere but still be in control to be able to think of your answers. Overall, you'll be more confident and have more presence. Is it a good idea ? It seems like one to me... Please give your opinions
  14. Hi, I'm in cegep. I was wondering for pre-med interviews/MMI, do they value you only on your answers and experience or do they also value you on your personnality a.k.a your charisma a.k.a the way you talk a.k.a how you express yourself a.k.a your confidence ? Thank you
  15. HELLO EVERYONE! Just wanted to touch base on how some of you are doing, post-interview and all. I realize that this is a stressful period, filled with uncertainty, excitement and self doubt. I did the interviews twice before I was accepted so I feel ya. Here are some tips and reminders: 1. Rethinking: You are probably rethinking every answer you gave (and if you are not, good for you!), or didn't give, overthinking everything. Reminder: you were at the interviews to be you, not to be a judge of yourself. A lot of points they are looking for are not even things you think of, that you
  16. Interviews are coming up and one of the best ways to prepare for it according to many people is to practice within groups. We already have about 7 people in our group, however we are looking to gather more in order to mimic the MMI setting which would require a total of around 20 people. Anybody who is interested please leave a reply and I will include you into our group. for others who don't have an account you can just shoot me an email at: salam_hello@hotmail.com
  17. Hi, I'm preparing for an MMI and I had a question about how people go about answering the scenarios. I've been watching CourseGrinder's YouTube videos on sample MMI answers, which have been very helpful. But one thing I find a bit weird is gathering more information. I know this is critical if you're going to be a physician. But for a discussion question where there isn't an actor to answer you, when you're talking out possible questions that you would ask to gather more information, should we expect the interviewer to actually answer these? Or are we just talking out loud? Because de
