  1. Hello everyone, I am a student occupational therapist who will soon be starting a scholarly paper based on the scenario posted below, and I am wondering if anyone might have any suggestions as to possible assessments and interventions (based in explicit theory), or perhaps know of any clinical contacts. Thanks in advance. Susan is a 17 year old girl who was diagnosed at age 15 with multiple sclerosis. She had her first exacerbation 6 months ago and has made minimal progress since that time. She is ambulatory; however, she presents with an ataxic gait. Her standing balance is poor and
  2. Hi! I'm having a very difficult time deciding between Queen's and Dalhousie for OT. I'm interested in mental health and pediatrics. I'm looking for anyone's opinions on the pros/cons of each school. Thank you!
  3. Hello! I figured I would start this thread for those who know they are heading to Dal in September. It's driving me a bit crazy that we haven't received much information about the coming year. So we can use this space to meet each other, and maybe create a facebook group? Perhaps find roommates, etc. So excited to meet you guys!!!
  4. Hey everyone! I'm new to this forum and I just had a question to ask you guys regarding OT admissions. I found out today that I am number 8 on the wait list at University of Manitoba and I honestly feel so devastated. I was just wondering if there's a chance for me yet to get in for this September with being number 8 on the alternate list. I know there's no way of truly knowing, but do you guys think there's a chance or seen it happen in past years? See the problem is that the email they sent me today said they only have 2 more spots to fill their class of 50 students. This obviously makes me
  5. Hi fellow applicants! I got the e-mail last night to activate my Western Student Identity number - thing is, when I went to do it, it wouldn't work. I realized later that this may be because I am already a Western student (and therefore have activated that account 5 years ago). I couldn't find an e-mail address to ask this to so I figured I would ask you guys and see if anyone else was having problems. Also, just out of curiosity, did ALL applicants receive this e-mail? (Just trying to figure out if they have already made a first cut or not) Thanks!! Good luck guys!
  6. I compiled all the Canadian OT schools information into one chart. The one stickied on this forum is missing Quebec schools, so I did my best to add them in but as their webpages were in French, I struggled a bit and there may be some Google Translate errors. Currently contains: school profile (website, phone number, location), minimum GPA to get in, Prereqs, Documents needed (LOR, personal statements, etc), volunteering requirements, class size, OOP notes, interview yes/no, and other small notes (when I could locate them) like application windows, length, and links to accepted prereqs. Th
  7. Hi there, Currently in progress in this class - human physiology. I have noticed on the forums that a few of you are doing this as well. Has anyone done a midterm/exam yet? Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on if they are similar to the quizzes or if there is any lab content on them. Many Thanks, I.C.
  8. Shoulder Pain What is it? Shoulder tendinitis is a common overuse injury in sports (such as swimming, baseball and tennis) where the arm is used in an overhead motion. The pain – usually felt at the tip of the shoulder and referred or radiated down the arm – occurs when the arm is lifted overhead or twisted. In extreme cases, pain will be present all of the time and it may even wake you from a deep sleep. Statistics: As per statistics, 6 out of 10 causes of shoulder pain is linked with supraspinatus tendonitis. According to the survey, statistics show that while women only incurred o
