  1. Hi everyone! This is my first year applying to Dental Schools. I have applied to UofT and Western, but I believe I have a significantly better chance at Western, based on past statistics. I was wondering if anyone has tips for how to prepare for dentistry interviews? I am unfamiliar with this area, and even pointing out any "obvious" resources could be helpful. I.e. how is the interview structured, what types of questions are asked, what are important topics in dentistry to be familiar with (or where I can become familiar with/learn more about important areas), etc. For those with pre
  2. Attended University elsewhere for a year, transferred to where I am now, and am currently in third year here (different program, different courses). Does anyone know whether my grades from my past University can be used, in combination with an academic year from my current University in applying to UWO Dental school (i.e. top two years from two different programs in two different Universities)? Also, if I have taken more than 5 credits in a year, will UWO only use the top 5 in determining the academic average, or will they consider all courses taken during that period?
  3. I plan on applying to UWO dentistry school. I've been having quite a difficult time figuring out how my grades (from York University) would be converted by UWO (planning on applying to dentistry). Would someone please end my misery? I earned an A+ in 5 courses and an A in 5 courses. I'm not sure how OMSAS would treat each A+ and A, although I have read that A+ is worth 95% and A is worth 87% or 85%. That would leave me with a 91% or a 90% average, which is correct (if either?)
  4. Hi all, I am a first year MPT student at Western (UWO). This thread is dedicated to answering Western PT specific questions so please feel free to ask me questions. UWOPT17 will also be chiming in from time to time to ensure all of your questions are answered. To start off by clearing any confusion, Western PT has changed their admissions requirements from previous years. In particular, the heavy focus on high grades has now been shifted in favor for more well-rounded students. With that said, our cutoff GPA for this year's incoming class is 3.75 on a 4.0 scale. While this value may appea
  5. I'm in 2nd year undergrad and I didn't do well on my statistics mid term. To prevent a potential B/B+, I'm thinking of dropping the course and taking it in the summer. Does dropping a course have a negative impact on the academic assessment at UWO and UT? P.S. -this year will not be one of my "two best years" for UWO. -this year will not be the "dropped lowest GPA year" for UT (it'll be counted for considered GPA)
  6. Hi, i am currently in first year Bsc program at uwo. I had planned to switch to med sci, and do honors spec thinking it would benefit me in terms of med schools. but apparently thats a wrong approach. Its all about what you like and if it can give you higher gpa. I was planning of doing a double major in psychology and physiology. I wanted to ask anyone who has done major in PSYCH from uwo as to how hard would this major be. i get that physiology is a med science program, but that is only module i like from there, so i can somewhat expect its course work and amount of work for good gpa.Howe
  7. Just wondering if anyone has suggestions for apartments close to Victoria Hospital in London? Preferably between UWO and Vic Hospital, since I'll be at both locations (primarily at Victoria though) Thank you very much!!
  8. I'm entering 4th year HSP-IMS in Sept 2015 and I'm a little nervous about choosing courses because HSP-IMS requires 1.0 4th year medsci courses + 2.0 4th year modular courses. Taking 60% 4th year courses worries me because my 1st and 2nd year GPA aren't exactly the greatest (far below mediocre) and I was counting on my 3rd/4th year to balance them out. Does anyone know of any good 4th year science courses I can take, that aren't too bad to take in terms of workload and maintaining GPA? Any info on AnatCell, Physiology, or Medical Biophysics modular courses are appreciated!
  9. Hello everyone, I'm a Canadian finishing up my first year at a US dental school. While I do love my school, I'm planning to apply as a 2nd year transfer to U of T and UWO since it is so much less expensive than the American schools. Could anyone from UWO or U of T advise as to whether there are open spots in the class of 2018? Thanks in advance!

  12. Hi everyone! I'm trying to prepare myself for the CDA based interview at Western University in a couple of weeks. I have been talking with peers who are in the dental program to get suggestions. I am aware of the 7 different types of questions that are asked during the interview. But is there a better way to prepare for the interview? And should I bring in pen and notepad to write down some key points to the questions in case I forget? Thanks everyone!
  13. Just a quick question, Are interview invites/rejections typically sent out as emails? Or would they be posted online (for instance, on Minerva for applicants to McGill)? I believe it would be by email, but just thought I'd check! Haha wouldn't want to miss that I am particularly wondering about U of T, UWO and McGill Thanks!
  14. Is there any way a spectacular DAT score could save me? Do I have a chance at either of these schools?
  15. Hi everyone, I was just wondering what you think about my chances at UWO? My GPA (best two years) is 92% BUT I took less than full course loads every year, so my best two years were both 80% of a full course load (i.e. 24/30 credits). My RC score is 20. It says on their website that "Grades of years with a course load equivalent to a minimum of four full courses will be utilized in the admissions process, but if the course load is less than five, a slight penalty is assessed against the grade, if used in the application process, to reflect the fact that it is based on a lighter course
  16. Hello guys! I need a suggestion for my situation:S I am currently in my third year of the study at University of Toronto. However, I have not taken a full course load for the last 2 years. (First Year: 4.0 FCE // Second Year: 3.5 FCE // Second Year Summer: 1.0 FCE) In this case, do I have a chance of applying year after my graduation using my 3rd and 4th year? (I am going to take a FULL 5.0 FCE course load for this year and next year.) Also, I went to UWO website and they show the % average of students who got accepted. Are they using % instead of 4.0 GPA scale? Finally, w
