  1. I'm going to need some advice on whether I'm being realistic with my goal to do a MD/PhD at UofT. I'm currently a 2nd year MSc student at McGill and want to go to UofT to study regenerative medicine clinically and academically as an MD/PhD. I applied to OMSAS last fall and got rejected from UofT, but got an interview at another ontario university. I know I should be happy I have at least an interview for med school, but I honestly only really care about going to UofT because of the financial research support in regenerative medicine, principle investigators, surgical advancements in upper extr
  2. Hey guys, Does anyone of you know anything about the admission committee at the UofT reviewing applications and giving some kind of leniency to applicants with special circumstances ? Anyone has seen such before ?
  3. Hi everyone! This is my first year applying to Dental Schools. I have applied to UofT and Western, but I believe I have a significantly better chance at Western, based on past statistics. I was wondering if anyone has tips for how to prepare for dentistry interviews? I am unfamiliar with this area, and even pointing out any "obvious" resources could be helpful. I.e. how is the interview structured, what types of questions are asked, what are important topics in dentistry to be familiar with (or where I can become familiar with/learn more about important areas), etc. For those with pre
  4. I know I'm probably going to sound like a naïve grade 12 student, but I need help! I'm really interested in fashion, but at the same time I'm equally as interested in science. I've wanted to become a fashion designer for as long as I can remember, I've been designing/sketching/drawing clothes since grade 8. Last year I discovered that I was also passionate about sciences, so I started looking into careers with science. I've also been looking at science programs. At the beginning of this year I realized I also want to go into dentistry. I've looked at what's on the DAT/Dental school prerequisit
  5. Hi guys, does anyone know what constitutes the difference between the total offers of admission at UofT which is 139 and total number of students registered, i.e. 96 ?!! Does this mean 43 people have declined and UofT has not taken anyone off of the waitlist or what ? I guess I'm being a little dumb here :-)
  6. Hey Guys, I hope everyone on this forum, even the stalkers and observers will get into their desired dental school :-) Just a quick question, without going into details, I need to know how many questions roughly I need to get right to get a decent score on each section ( +20 ) .
  7. Hi, Thanks for spending your time to read my post. I am a Canadian high school student hoping to start university in 2016 September. I'm going to apply for admission in universities starting this October 2015. I'm still completing my high school courses and I'm sure I complete my high school with an average of 90-94%. I want to become a doctor in the future and I am interested in the sciences. I just can't figure out which university to choose for my undergraduate that will be best for applying into medical school in Canada later on. I live in Ontario so I prefer staying in Ontario for my

  9. Hi, I just completed 1st year at UTSG, and I'll be double majoring in HMB health and disease and Cell and molecular biology. I was just wondering if it is worth it to keep my Bioethics minor as well (which ultimately brings no room for electives) or should I drop it and just take a couple of bioethics courses that interest me? Personally, I think bioethics is interesting, but I don't like the idea of taking elective unrelated philosophy courses to complete the minor. Thank you for taking the time to read this! P.S Is a double major in HMB and CMB do-able? (not necessary to answer)

  11. Hello everyone! I was wondering if someone could comment on UofT and McMaster, and the pros and cons of the two schools? Thank you!
  12. Hello everyone, I'm wondering if I should rewrite the MCAT this summer or if I should apply with my current score and write it again next summer if I don't get in. Any advice or new information you could provide is much appreciated! Here is some quick information about my application: ECs: I would say fairly strong GPA: ~3.85 MCAT: Wrote it three times, with final score being PS 11 VR 10 BS 12 Total 33 My reasons for rewriting: I'm mainly considering rewriting due to my Verbal score. I feel like it will be really hard for me to get an interview from Mac with a 10 in VR. 10 in VR
  13. NOTE: I have a lot of questions, so feel free to answer whatever portion you'd like! Thanks in advance! I'm a third year Physiology Major at U of T and I am curious about my chances as is. I feel like I'm a solid applicant, but... generic. First year: 3.83 Second Year: 3.77 Third Year: First semester is a 3.86. Second semester is looking pretty good but it's difficult to tell because of the strike (barely know my marks). So my cGPA, weighing my first semester as a half year, is 3.812. Using the U of T weighting formula (from my understanding, it would be take away 3.0 lowest grades
  14. So as everyone probably knows, my school's TAs went on strike. UTSC, my campus, has said that this semester, we can credit/no credit any courses we want, even course requirements. I should be doing fairly well in all my courses (minimum 3.7GPA) except for math, (MATA30). This course I'm probably going to get a seventy something and was wondering if I should credit no credit this math course. A page dedicated to this stuff said that the Registrar will send letters upon request to grad schools explaining this stuff and why people took credit no credit. The site and the details are here: h
  15. I'm currently in my undergrad at the University of Toronto which offers a service called "Credit/No Credit", it essentially acts the same way as Pass/Fail in some other universities. Basically, if you select "Credit/No Credit" for a course, your mark for the course will not be recorded on your academic record and you will receive the credit for the course, contingent on the fact that you pass the course. I have done some research and they recommend not doing it for a course that is a requirement for graduate schools but mentions nothing of medical schools. I have researched but found nothing o
  16. This is a little embarrassing for me to talk about. I'm a second year student UofT, studying human biology. In my first year, I did the absolute bare minimum. In the beginning I was really trying, but after seeing how difficult it was, I started to feel very demotivated and it just turned into a snowball from there, and now I'm really panicking about Medical School. At the end of this year I will have 10.0 credits completed and I plan on taking a full-credit course load for the remaining years so I am eligible for the weighing formula (trust me, I'll need it). My cGPA is 2.27 based on

  18. Hello everyone! I am extremely happy and lucky to have gotten an interview to UofT, but I am presenting at a conference in Florida that weekend. I am wondering if anyone knows if UofT would be willing to switch my interview time?
  19. Hi guys, There is an interview prep session organized by University of Toronto Career Centre on January 13, 2014 (6-7:30pm) at St. George campus. This is for UofT students, and you have to register at https://cln.utoronto...ts/sgevents.htm. The session will feature effective interview strategies for "must-know" questions. They will also distribute most up-to-date interview prep handouts edited by UofT Faculty of Medicine alumni. Best of luck!

  21. Is there any way a spectacular DAT score could save me? Do I have a chance at either of these schools?

  23. Hey, Has anyone on here completed the UofT Online Biochem course SCS 2472 during the summer session? I'm thinking of taking this course over my co-op term (while working 9-5), but from what I've heard, it's absolutely brutal. I will have taken cell bio and organic before it.....but from what I've heard it's a man-killer regardless. I'd appreciate thoughts/advice from anyone who's taken it. Thanks guys!
  24. Hi everyone, I'm going crazy and really need someone to help me. I'm an undergrad student with a pretty competitive GPA (I hope!). I wrote the Nov DAT for the second time this year, and feel like I didn't do well on it. For some reason, I just keep running out of time on the DAT and even on the sample tests that I did during preparation, I wasn't getting competitive scores unfortunately Anyways, I've already applied to UofT and Western this year and am waiting for the DAT scores to come out (hopefully tomorrow). I just want to know whether you think I would get an interview.. My G
