***NOW UPDATED WITH THE 2019 MSAR*** The new MSAR values are given at the top of each school's description with a heading MSAR 2019. Note that this means using MSAR values released on 2019. They're for class entering fall 2018. Hi fellow non-Americans,As noncitizens, we face greater difficulty than Americans - there are schools that flat out reject any international applications, schools that say they accept but never really interview anyone (looking at you, Tufts and Baylor), and schools that are super friendly towards us. Of course, they're all on MSAR, but unless some screams MSAR

I'm a grade 12 student that is graduating this year. I want to go to medical school, but I want to go to an undergrad that prepares me the most for it (GPA, MCAT) and other requirements. My options I'm thinking of right now are: Waterloo Biomedical Science (no co-op) Pros: Good structure and has many courses that are perquisites for med schools Cons: I heard it was hard (courses like embryology) which I won't be able to get a high GPA Waterloo Honours Science (no co-op) Pros: Lots of flexibility in terms of electives (so you can boost G

Hi all, Christopher here from the Pluripotent Premed podcast, and creator of www.UltimatePremedPackage.ca. After overwhelmingly positive feedback on 'Season 1' of the podcast that I co-host with a medical school classmate of mine, Ziad, we are back in the (virtual) studio and recording new weekly episodes for Season 2! If you haven't heard of Pluripotent Premed yet, feel free to check us out on any major podcasting platform (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) or on our Facebook page. We are two medical students in Canada who host a completely free podcast that is designed to guide premed s

I think either: - Yukon University - Northwest Territories (right in between Yukon and Nunavut, so only admit those in the Territories) (call it "MUTN"--Medical University of The North) - Kwantalen Polytechnic University (they're building a new hospital so it'd be a nice affiliation tbh) - A Canadian Armed Forces Medical School with a 5-10 year Return of Service Contract or something (similar to how in the States they have the, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences) . . . What do you guys think?

Hi, I'm still in high school and I'm looking at which "premed" program to apply to next year that focuses on preparing students for medicine. I know that any program is good as long as you can get a good GPA and high MCAT scores, but are they any specific programs (in Canada) that gear specifically towards premed? Thanks in advance!

Hello, I am a medical student in a Canadian school and was wondering if anyone knew anything about or could point me towards some resources on what would happen and what I should consider if instead of doing my residency in Canada I go to the UK to do so. I ask because I have family there that I might need to take care of and want to decide my best course of action. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I received my bachelor's degree back in April 2018 and after 2 failed med school application cycles in Canada I turned to US MD and DO schools. I realized I am missing many prerequisite courses (i.e. English + some lab courses) and was looking into post-bacc programs that could help me get the missing credits and apply to the US. Are there any post-bacc programs (with labs, so assuming I cannot do online) that you guys would recommend? I've heard of a lot of shady programs so I'm looking for some feedback. I found https://www.medschoolimg.com/premed-postbaccalaureate this progr

Hi everyone! I need some advice on my options on applying to US medical schools. I've had a rough start to my undergrad, and hope someone (anyone) help me out, especially canadians who have gotten into US medical schools . Im really sorry in advance for the long and possibly annoying post, but here it goes: Im a 3rd year undergrad student in Canada,Ontario. My first year i've gotten all C+'s (assuming this is a 2 something on the american scale), and this was with a reduced course load! Here's the problem, I cant apply to Canadian schools because they heavily penalize students who haven't

Hi all! My name is Christopher and I am the author of www.UltimatePremedPackage.ca which I know a few of you have found to be a useful resource for your premed journey. This summer a classmate and I have been busy working on a new podcast called Pluripotent Premed which we intent to act as an audio guide for navigating the premed years as a Canadian applicant. We dive into all topics related to the MCAT, med school interview, extracurriculars, and more. We will also be interviewing classmates of ours who are got into med from alternative backgrounds (e.g. arts, nursing, other careers) and

I know that there is Western Medical Science which sends a lot of students to med other than health science, are there any other programs like these? I want to know this because I am in grade 12 and want to be a doctor. I want to take a bachelor's program which is science oriented while also giving me the best shot possible for med school. Most of time what I hear is that if you don't get into the two courses I mentioned your best choice will be to go to an easy university so you can still get a high GPA (rather than a life science program which are generally tough), like you would in health s

I wanted some peoples opinions on a situation that I am in. I've applied to medical school twice in Canada and have never gotten an interview. I have a cGPA of 3.90, an MCAT score of 515, I am a Canadian citizen and I have recently finished my Bachelor's at McGill University. I have recently been accepted to a British MBBS program at Newcastle University Medicine (Malaysia). I wanted to ask people's opinions on whether it would be more beneficial for me me to get started with medicine in Malaysia now and eventually go through equivalencies and work in Canada or should I find a job or apply for

hi, basically, i'm here to ask for advice on route options for getting into a medical school, based on my current situation School: first did practical nursing at an Ontario college (currently an RPN) and just graduated from an Ontario university with a bachelor of science in nursing (BScN) (nclex-rn to be taken shortly) - university gpa: 2.3 - mcat: haven’t taken it yet and no prep started yet - medically related experience: nursing school clinicals/ working as an RPN - extracurriculars: barely any volunteer experience (at least not recently), didn’t join any clubs in

I know I will not make it into Canadian dental schools due to the rough first year I had (due to major illness). I am a music major currently in my second year. My first year GPA was 2.4 (like I said, I was very sick), but first semester of this year, it was 3.3, which bumped my CGPA up to 2.74. I am hoping to bump it up even further by taking intersession courses this summer and working really hard for the rest of my undergrad. I am looking at US schools as a plan B. I was wondering if anyone has any info on Canadian friendly schools that may be options for me. I am hoping that my diverse

Hey guys, I'm at a cross-road for where to go if I want to continue the dream of getting into med school. I really goofed up my first couple years leading to an ~3.4 GPA after 6 years (5 years of BioSci and 1 year Psyc minor). The last 2-3 years were decent with a respective 3.6, 3.96, 3.8 GPA. Unfortunately I can't seem to get over the MCAT hump having written 3 times with a 500, 501, and 502 scores. The last one (502) had a 126 in CARS so I decided to apply to UofC and UofA being from Alberta (although definitely not holding my breath). I have very good ECs including fluency in 3 languages,

I know this question is asked by countless members on this forum, but I am currently in a rut. I am currently a U of Saskatchewan student (Canadian) and would like advice regarding premed as I am currently dealing with a low gpa for my first and second years of my degree. My gpa calculations are as followed (OMSAS) 1st and 2nd year: 3.00 gpa (73 and 72) (1 semester with 4 courses) 3rd year: 3.9 (86) First semester of 4th year: 3.7 (84.2) If I finish with a 86 overall in my fourth year, I calculate that I will still only have a 78 percent which is too low to be compet

Does it require the MCAT? Because back in 2016 apparently they brought it back but in their website they say its not required. https://med.uottawa.ca/undergraduate/hidden/does-ottawa-require-mcat

Hi everyone, I'm a Canadian student thinking about applying to American dental schools. I know the cost is absolutely crazy, and I will be overloaded with loans but I still want to know the GPAs that some people get in with. The class statistics of some schools like NYU range mostly between 3.30 - 3.90 , but that's not really specific. If any Canadians could share their gpa and the schools they got accepted to (in the US) it would be very helpful

I am an international student with a 4 years Bachelors in Dental Surgery.I have worked in a clinical setting as a dentist for one year and now want to apply for a masters in public health. I feel I need more experience in public health field that would help me get admission in a competitive MPH program. But I am confused as to what kind of work/volunteer experience counts as public health experience and which would be helpful for my admission application. I am in Ontario Canada and would welcome some advice in this regards and also welcome suggestions on how to go about applyin
