  4. Hi! I'm planning on going into OT. However, every OT I come across has done their schooling abroad. Has anyone done theirs in Canada and is willing to share the process? PT seems to have more descriptive and consistent requirements. What is the GPA cut off, do your EC's matter? And how many schools did you apply to and where was your undergrad done? Thanks in advance
  5. Hey OT/PT hopefuls, I am anxiously awaiting to hear back about interview invitations from various PT Schools across Canada. I study in a small town so there are not many other prospective PT/OT students around to do mock interviews, and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in making a facebook group (or similar) where we do video chats with Mock MMI/Answer Feedback? I've read about the importance of actually practicing answering questions and think this could be very helpful for students in a similar situation! *given that most if not all in-person interviews are cancelled I did not make a group, but may be a great idea for next year!*
  6. Hi everyone!! I am currently applying for Dalhousie and they request for an MCAT score. I wrote the MCAT twice and got the same score. The first time I did well in CARS, the second time I did well in the sciences. Does anyone know which one Dalhousie prefers for applications? Thank you in advance!
  7. I have read in several places on premed 101 (and heard from several other students) that multiple family medicine programs allow you to add applications to additional sites (within their program) after interviewing. I am having trouble finding reference to this within the carms program description pages. I am wondering if anyone knows: 1. Which FM programs you can add additional site applications to late? (Particularly interested in UBC, Dalhousie, NOSM, and Memorial.) 2. How to logistically do this---assuming within carms portal exactly as you applied for other programs? 3. If we decide BEFORE the interview (i.e. now) that we would like to add a site application if we can do that? Really appreciate the help!
  8. Just wondering what the general consensus is on the available general surgery programs in the country, which are considered “the best” and what are the pros and cons of each?
  9. Hi, I was just wondering how they mark your supplemental form. What would score high in that section? Is there some form of rubric that anyone knows of? Similar thing with the essay. Thanks!
  10. Hey everyone, I just wanted to start a thread for when interview invites start rolling out around end of march everyone can stay updated! If you get an email/call post below and keep us updated. Or if anyone has questions good luck everyone!

  12. Premed! Are you struggling with your medical school interviews? Have you been previously rejected after the medical school interviews? Do you want to turn your interview rejections into admissions? I get it. When I applied to medical school the first time around, I had 5 interviews, but was rejected by all 5 schools. Sad ad depressed, I was lost how to to turn that around. However, I came up with a specific approach to interviewing for medical schools. Using that same approach, I again had 5 interviews the following year. The difference is that this time, I got into all 5 medical schools. Since then, I have created the NextMD Community, and the group of medical students and doctors have used this exact same method to help many premed students that have struggled with their interviews turn rejections into admissions, and they are all on their way to become doctors. So if you say YES to any of the questions about, then check out the NextMD Community, check us out on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/978669245641167/ For more information, check us out at: http://www.nextmd.ca/training BOOK: If you are down to learn the system we have come up with RIGHT NOW, and you are someone who loves to learn through reading, access the book here: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07DFGHZ8S We offer the following programs: A. But don't let the INTERVIEW hinder you from your dream of becoming a doctor. Good luck to all the applicants who are interviewing this year. NextMD Turn Rejections into Admissions
  13. Hi everyone, I have some concerns regarding my overall application and was hoping for some feedback, insight, & suggestions/advice. My undergrad career has been a mountain climb, which is shown by my annual GPA trend: 1st Year: 1.91 2nd Year: 2.17 3rd Year: 2.82 4th Year: 3.68 5th Year: TBD I will be entering my 5th year and am hoping to score even higher than my 4th year (3.68). For some time I had a misconception that Western looks at your two best years and requires the overall GPA to be 3.7 OVER the 2 years. I recently heard that they require 3.7 in EACH of the two best years. (Depressing discovery). I am a SWOMEN student, therefore I do have some advantage (pretaining to enrolment seats and MCAT cutoffs), but my 4th year 3.68 may not allow me to apply to Western. I am already about to begin my fifth year in September, but that will do no good for Western taking into account that they need 3.7 in EACH of the two best years. Could you provide some insight regarding what I should consider my options? Here are some of my thoughts: I would qualify for Dalhousie medical school assuming I can maintain above 3.65 annual GPA in my fifth year - they require 3.7 but round to the nearest tenth. Therefore I hope to apply there in the 2019 application cycle. For Western, my only option is to do a 6th year and then apply - not sure if anyone has ever done this, or what people's feedback regarding this would be. Over the past couple of years, I have become more determined to pursue medicine and tried my best to cross challenges in my personal life in order to improve my standing, and I do not want to let my past academic record become an absolute barrier during this pursuit. Mentally, I tell myself that I can be prepared to give extra time towards my undergraduate degree. Please let me know what you think. Furthermore, do you have any insight regarding American Medical schools, and Ross University? In regards to residency, I understand that coming back to Canada has very slim chances. However, I currently don't see a personal objection to the idea of matching for a residency spot in the U.S. (and working there) - I just don't know about the exact match rate. I understand I said a lot, but I would appreciate any thought, insight, or advice/recommendation from the PreMed101 community. Thank you!
  14. I have applied for OT entry level, but have't heard anything yet. Please contact with m if you are an international applicant to OT in Dalhousie! Thank you!!
  15. Does anyone have any experience navigating the course load discussions? It says you need to have taken 10 courses in your last two years of undergrad (so 5 each term). My program would split courses into double so they could squeeze more classes into our degree (ie. FSN 706 would be two classes on two different subjects and we'd get two different marks). I did what most students did and did all my electives in my last year part time. So... i don't meet that course load requirement. They said they will allow for it if your program is structured differently, but it's a B. Des, so I feel like they won't be familiar with it. Anyone ever navigate this? Wondering if/who I should maybe sit down with to discuss whether I'm even able to apply... I also graduated way back in 2013 if that matters and have an MA since then
  16. Any past or current Dal OT students know what their MScOT GPA cut-off was the last couple of years? Or are willing to share what GPA you had for your admission? Thanks!
  17. Hello fellow DAL OT 2018 Prospective Students! Wanted to start a forum to hear about others who are waiting to hear back from DAL OT from the 2018 application process. I did not receive an email of confirming my application was received (dropped off in person), however my DAL online says status incomplete. I'm guessing this is because I am in the process of completing my Anatomy and Physiology prerequisites. Wondering if anyone else is in the same boat or what your status is? Best of luck! Halifax, NS
