Hi guys! I'm a recent graduate from the University of Guelph, and I am planning on taking the cDAT this upcoming November. I unfortunately screwed myself over and didn't take organic chemistry in my undergrad because I didn't want it messing up my GPA but I know UWO requires it. I wanted to take it this upcoming fall but UofG doesn't offer it until the winter semester. The UWO admissions page says "Prerequisite courses can be taken at any time but must be completed by April 30 of the year of entry". If I were to take it at UofG in the winter semester, I would technically be done the cour

Hello! Congratulations to everyone who was accepted! I hope that you have a great first year. The waitlist is a great achievement and so is getting an interview. This year has been pretty crazy and with no interviews And has been very stressful. I thought I’d start this forum to see how everyone is doing and if there is movement on the waitlist. I am OOP waitlisted in the bottom third!

Hello! I'm VERY interested in applying for the DMD program at UBC and have a few questions about admissions. A bit of background on me... I completed an undergrad degree in Business with a 3.2 GPA. I have yet to take the pre-reqs for the DMD program at UBC, as well as write the DAT and CASPER test before applying for the program. After my experiences I realized that dental is what I want to do and I'm aiming to complete the pre-reqs with good grades and complete the DAT and CASPER with high marks. I'm afraid that with my 3.2 undergrad GPA I have no chances of getting into the p

Has anyone applied into UBC DMD from UofA? Do you know which courses count as equivalent? I'm doing classes that are similar, is that fine or do they have to be almost exactly the same? Also how do they convert 4.0 scale to percentage? I've seen loads of conversions but I'm not sure so if anyone can help that would be great. Thanks

Hey everyone! I wrote the Canadian DAT in Nov 2018 and was wondering if I could get any feedback from you all on my scores! I'm looking to apply in 2019 for both Canadian AND U.S schools and am currently debating whether I should try attempting the American DAT this summer, or even do the Canadian DAT once again in November... My scores were: 21AA 23 GC 18 BIO 21 RC 18 PAT My cumulative undergrad GPA (including summer school, but not this semester) is approximately a 3.79. If anyone had any advice or opinions regarding my DAT scores and whether they t

I know I will not make it into Canadian dental schools due to the rough first year I had (due to major illness). I am a music major currently in my second year. My first year GPA was 2.4 (like I said, I was very sick), but first semester of this year, it was 3.3, which bumped my CGPA up to 2.74. I am hoping to bump it up even further by taking intersession courses this summer and working really hard for the rest of my undergrad. I am looking at US schools as a plan B. I was wondering if anyone has any info on Canadian friendly schools that may be options for me. I am hoping that my diverse

Hello everyone, I graduated from Western in 2012 and went onto Case Western (Cleveland, Ohio) in the US for dental school. I graduated in 2016 and have been working in Ohio as a dentist. I know that this forum has been really helpful to me, so I really wanted to give back. Please let me know if any of you has questions about US dental schools. I will do my best to reply in a timely manner.

hi guys, was wondering what my chances are of getting into any dental schools in the states with my current gpa and what schools i should apply to.So i graduated from a Canadian university with an average of ~70% (i know it's low ): ). I am currently finishing a dental hygiene program and was wondering if that would help me with my dental application (would dental schools look at that??). I am also doing two extra fourth year level undergrad science courses (getting an 80+ right now). I have some dental experiences and I will be doing my DAT by the end of the year. What are my chances of getti

Hi everyone! I am starting this thread because we should be hearing from McGill about interviews pretty soon. From previous threads, applicants have heard back around Jan 21st, and admissions said they should send them out before Jan. 26 so basically, we should hear from this by the end of the week. Please post below if you were accepted or rejected, IP or OOP, GPA and hours of volunteer/extra-curricular work Good luck to everyone!

Hi Everyone! I was wondering if anyone could shine some light onto some good MMI interview prep companies that prepare well for interviews (particularly dental ones)? Looking to get some professional help but with an abundance of companies, I don't know which would be best. Personal experience with different companies (the good and bad) would be extremely valuable. Thanks in advance!

I've looked at a billion forums and discussions online, checked the university statistics but I want someone to give me the reality check. I'm majoring in Biochemistry (honors program) at a canadian university. I'll be applying to american and canadian dental schools next year. And my cumulative average is 81.55% and major average is 82.22%. Given that I do well on the DAT and that I will be doing my thesis this year, I'll probably be doing some dental shadowing, do I have a chance? I know other factors count but I need to know my chances based solely on the information provided.

Hello. I have been looking for a dentist to shadow. Here is what I did. I tried to find a job in the dental office. But only found out that they only accept dental assistant and receptionist with diplomas. I emailed a few dentists who replied that they were not available. Any advice on how to find a dentist to shadow in Toronto?

Has anyone used the American DAT to apply to UofT? I emailed them asking whether Canadian students can use the American DAT and they responded saying that it is allowed. However, on their website, it states: The American Dental Admission Test (DAT) is an acceptable equivalent for applicants living or attending school outside of Canada I'm not sure what this statement means, but it implies that Canadian university students cannot use the ADAT in application process. Any info on this topic would be appreciated!
