  1. Salut!
  2. Anyone apply to their MD with a BHK, MSc Physiotherapy (with international and Canadian work-experience), and current PT registration with the college? What was your GPA? What was your MCAT score? Thanks!
  3. Hi, I would have some questions for the admission in MD in the University of Ottawa. I am currently a university student in Quebec so I would like to apply in the French stream of the MD program next year. Our province was highly touched with Covid-19 so our universities gave us the right to apply to the Pass/Fail option in our winter 2020 classes. As mentioned in the admission criteria of UofOttawa, to be eligible, only one class Pass/Fail per semester is allowed. Is this rule still applicable with the circumstances of covid-19 for next year admissions? Also, I've changed programs
  4. What are the advantages, disadvantages, and benefits to completing a PhD or masters in conjunction with your MD? Does it offer advantages in the future? I was considering doing the MD/PhD program but I don't really have a desire at this point to do lab work/research. Are there other things you can do with your MD/PhD? I would be open to hearing advice from anyone who decided to do the program or the reasons people decided to not do it. Thanks everyone!
  6. Based on what I know so far, becoming a pathologist require a MD degree; however, when I searched online for Master in Pathology and PhD in pathology, it says ppl with a BSC degree can apply too? So what is the difference between MSC/PhD in Pathology and the Pathology residency? If I just have a BSC, and apply to MSC in pathology, what I will do and where I will work in future after I completed the Master degree? I assume it is definitely not the same as those pathologist who have finished MD right?
Merci guys! __________ 1. How does it work on the final score calculation, if I take the course again and get a better or worse grade? 2. Do you suggest
  8. I wanted some peoples opinions on a situation that I am in. I've applied to medical school twice in Canada and have never gotten an interview. I have a cGPA of 3.90, an MCAT score of 515, I am a Canadian citizen and I have recently finished my Bachelor's at McGill University. I have recently been accepted to a British MBBS program at Newcastle University Medicine (Malaysia). I wanted to ask people's opinions on whether it would be more beneficial for me me to get started with medicine in Malaysia now and eventually go through equivalencies and work in Canada or should I find a job or apply for
  9. Hello, I am a long time lurker, and this is my first post. I was wondering if my fellow Canadian comrades could post some statistics on their GPA/MCAT/ECs and what US MD schools they're currently attending so I have an idea of the level of competition. Just confirming I am a Canadian CITIZEN. Also, I have the following stats, I would really appreciate some feedback and perhaps recommendations on certain schools that fit my experiences/scores: 516 on the MCAT (129/128/130/129) 3.8 GPA (Perfect GPA last 2 years, how significantly do they care about trends??) ECs: Lo
  10. Hey everyone, I'm really stressed so I apologize if this sounds very scatter brained. But I'm finishing up my 5th year at Western in Health Sciences and my GPA is just okay, around 3.6-3.7. MCAT is poor, 501 (125/124/126/126). I'm likely going to retake the MCAT this summer though as well as take Organic Chemistry since I currently do not have this prereq for Ottawa and pretty much every med school everywhere else. 1) Is my GPA scored differently to US MD and DO schools compared to Canadian MD schools? (Just wondering if UWO gets weighed differently or anything) 2) Are there any Ca
  11. Bonjour!
  13. Hey guys, I'm at a cross-road for where to go if I want to continue the dream of getting into med school. I really goofed up my first couple years leading to an ~3.4 GPA after 6 years (5 years of BioSci and 1 year Psyc minor). The last 2-3 years were decent with a respective 3.6, 3.96, 3.8 GPA. Unfortunately I can't seem to get over the MCAT hump having written 3 times with a 500, 501, and 502 scores. The last one (502) had a 126 in CARS so I decided to apply to UofC and UofA being from Alberta (although definitely not holding my breath). I have very good ECs including fluency in 3 languages,
  14. I just read this under Undergraduate Applicants on the Utoronto MD site: "It is recognized that at times, students take courses in lower years for various reasons, such as a change in program or to complete subjects of interest or prerequisites that did not fit the academic schedule previously. If you have information about your academics that you feel is important for the Admissions Committee to know, please use the Academic Explanations Essay within the OMSAS application." http://www.md.utoronto.ca/academic-requirements Since I applied as a Grad student, I didn't read what was
  16. Okay I know 6 is a lot but please read.I started a degree online back in 2013 and hated it. I pretty much neglected it because my parents borderline forced me (as I had a good job in a small town without a Uni). It was in HR and after i just didn't bother with the first semester but said I would give it a second go - same outcome. Not one ounce of me took it seriously nor thought about long term outcome.ANYWAYS, since then i've been doing my psychology degree, full course load and in class (I relocated). I have a 3.8 GPA and have been volunteering for 3 years now. I've submerged myself in the
  17. Hey everyone, I was wondering if you would be able to tell me how post-bacc courses are classified on AMCAS and AACOMAS. Are post-bacc courses lumped together with the rest of an individuals undergraduate courses? Or are they separate from other undergraduate courses taken? If so, does that mean that every course I take after graduating would be considered a post-bacc course? Also, have any of you done a SMP in the states?
  18. I have a Science undergrad. My cGPA is 2.95 for american MD schools, but for D.O. (with repeated courses), my undergrad cGPA is 3.03. I have already started an MBA program*. I was wondering: 1. How do I calculate my GPA for american D.O. and MD schools correctly? I can't find a proper source. (I just used the A = 3.9, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0 , B- = 2.7 ..etc type of method). 2A. Would MBA course grades boost my GPA for D.O. schools? 2B. Would MBA course grades boost my GPA for American M.D. schools? 3. What's the minimum MCAT score you'd say I'd need to give me a fight
  19. Hey guys, Hope everyone is doing just fine with the new OMSAS applications. I myself am yet to write the MCAT this coming September... Speaking of which, I was wondering if any of you guys could possibly shed some light on if/when Western might announce their new MCAT cut-offs for this upcoming cycle ?! The current thresholds are seriouly killing... at least in part for Non-SWOMEN applicants like myself.... Any input is highly appreciated
  20. Just wondering if any Canadians have been accepted/or even interviewed at any top 30 USMD schools in the last cycles??? If so, what was your GPA/MCAT and ECs like? And your experience interviewing? Any reply would be really appreciated..please give me hope lol!!!! Thanks in advance!!
