  1. Hi all, Christopher here from the Pluripotent Premed podcast, and creator of www.UltimatePremedPackage.ca. After overwhelmingly positive feedback on 'Season 1' of the podcast that I co-host with a medical school classmate of mine, Ziad, we are back in the (virtual) studio and recording new weekly episodes for Season 2! If you haven't heard of Pluripotent Premed yet, feel free to check us out on any major podcasting platform (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) or on our Facebook page. We are two medical students in Canada who host a completely free podcast that is designed to guide premed s
  2. ***NOW UPDATED WITH THE 2019 MSAR*** The new MSAR values are given at the top of each school's description with a heading MSAR 2019. Note that this means using MSAR values released on 2019. They're for class entering fall 2018. Hi fellow non-Americans,As noncitizens, we face greater difficulty than Americans - there are schools that flat out reject any international applications, schools that say they accept but never really interview anyone (looking at you, Tufts and Baylor), and schools that are super friendly towards us. Of course, they're all on MSAR, but unless some screams MSAR
  3. Hello wonderful people! I just finished my 4th year at a University in Canada - I'm a Canadian citizen, and I am currently planning to do my 5th year to boost my GPA and build up my ECs. I am almost done with my primary application for AACOMAS (DO schools), but I am a little hesitant to apply for AMCAS as well. Given that my stats are 3.65 cGPA with a strong upward trend (3.2 - 3.7 - 3.7 - 4.0) and 508 MCAT (127 125 127 129), should I give it a shot for US MD schools for this cycle? I am just worried because I heard US schools don't like to see reapplicants, so I was wondering if it
  4. Right now I am taking a course that is not required for my degree and it is really bringing down my GPA, I want to drop it to salvage my GPA. I desperately need for schools to drop my lowest year from their GPA because my first year went really bad (currently I am in second year). I plan to apply for UManitoba, UCalgary and UAlberta (which all don't care about you many courses you take as long as you are full-time ( 3 courses per semester), correct me if I am wrong). Which Ontario schools will disqualify me from the wGPA? Here are how many courses I took: 1st year: Fal
  5. Hi Everyone, In brief, I am a PhD student studying medicine in Canada. My biggest hurdle as I apply to medical schools is most definitely my GPA. >undergrad GPA: 2.8 >graduate GPA: 3.9 (Though this is a thesis-based degree, I have taken a course (or two) every single semester over my 5 year PhD) [Based off of this year's entry statistics for almost all Canadian and US schools, my MCAT score is competitive. I have hundreds of hours of extracurricular activities ranging from volunteering, community service, student groups, leadership, etc. I have 100+ hours of shadowin
  6. Hello everyone, I am a Canadian applicant who graduated in 2018 with a 3.69 cGPA/3.8 GPA to Western/Queen's & 3.7 GPA to US schools. My MCAT is 516 (129/127/130/130) (2019) (Past: 509, 512) and I have a very strong EC and research experience with no publications. I had no interview invites the last 2 years (Canada & US) and I'm afraid it was due to my low GPA for Canadian schools. For US schools, my options were very limited as I did not meet some course pre-reqs, and I understand space is limited for Canadian applicants. I feel like I'm getting no where in my 3rd a
  7. Hi all! My name is Christopher and I am the author of www.UltimatePremedPackage.ca which I know a few of you have found to be a useful resource for your premed journey. This summer a classmate and I have been busy working on a new podcast called Pluripotent Premed which we intent to act as an audio guide for navigating the premed years as a Canadian applicant. We dive into all topics related to the MCAT, med school interview, extracurriculars, and more. We will also be interviewing classmates of ours who are got into med from alternative backgrounds (e.g. arts, nursing, other careers) and
  8. Hello, I am a long time lurker, and this is my first post. I was wondering if my fellow Canadian comrades could post some statistics on their GPA/MCAT/ECs and what US MD schools they're currently attending so I have an idea of the level of competition. Just confirming I am a Canadian CITIZEN. Also, I have the following stats, I would really appreciate some feedback and perhaps recommendations on certain schools that fit my experiences/scores: 516 on the MCAT (129/128/130/129) 3.8 GPA (Perfect GPA last 2 years, how significantly do they care about trends??) ECs: Lo
  9. I know I will not make it into Canadian dental schools due to the rough first year I had (due to major illness). I am a music major currently in my second year. My first year GPA was 2.4 (like I said, I was very sick), but first semester of this year, it was 3.3, which bumped my CGPA up to 2.74. I am hoping to bump it up even further by taking intersession courses this summer and working really hard for the rest of my undergrad. I am looking at US schools as a plan B. I was wondering if anyone has any info on Canadian friendly schools that may be options for me. I am hoping that my diverse
  10. Hi All, I'm a student in 5th year of Med school studying here in Poland at WUM and I hold a Pakistani Passport. I am aware of the fact that you MUST be a PR holder or have a Canadian Citizenship to be eligible to practice there as there are steep chances for IMG's especially non Canadians. I will be getting engaged in a couple of months and my fiance is studying/working in Canada, He would get his PR soon hopefully. So here my question goes, can I just go to Canada after graduating which will be in 2 years and start preparing for Carms and get a PR in the meanwhile and then apply to resid
  11. Hi all,I'm a 3rd year Ontario non-SWOMEN undergrad student with an MCAT score of 131/127/131/128 (517 total). My GPA is ~3.98 and I have strong non-clinical ECs and clinical research experience. I'll be applying to Canadian med schools this upcoming summer, and if I don't get accepted I'll apply to Canadian and US med schools the following year.I'm concerned that my 127 CARS shuts a lot of doors in Canada - I think I'm really only competitive for U of T, Queens, and Ottawa - so I'm considering re-writing. However, I'm concerned that re-writing will harm my chances at US med schools, as I've he
  12. I'm in the third year in McMaster University and I want to apply to both Canadian and American medical schools this summer. I'm really lost in regards to this process; who should write my LoRs? How would I submit them to both Canadian and American medical schools? When should this submission be done?

  14. Currently, I am in the midst of second year, where I just screwed around first and second year first sem. After a talk with my parents, I wonder if med school after 4th year is still possible for me, assuming that I take my schooling carefully and respectfully, and hopefully obtain a good mcat score, would the comeback still be possible. My cumulative GPA is currently really low (<1.5), [Canadian Scale] with me having to redo ORGO 1 this summer. I would appreciate any advice if any one has ever been in a similar situation, I am interested in applying to both the states and Canadian Me

  16. Hi, I am selling access to my DAT Bootcamp premium access which expires at the end of December. This is a great resource for because of the abundance of past DAT exam questions you can access through their practice tests. It is amazing for PAT because they have generators and thorough video explanations on strategies for PAT. I am also selling my Canadian Dental Association DAT Preparation Manual. This is the only exam that was released by the official Canadian DAT administrator and is a great way to gauge your preparedness. Ideally, we can meet in person in Vancouver to ensure a
  17. Okay I know 6 is a lot but please read.I started a degree online back in 2013 and hated it. I pretty much neglected it because my parents borderline forced me (as I had a good job in a small town without a Uni). It was in HR and after i just didn't bother with the first semester but said I would give it a second go - same outcome. Not one ounce of me took it seriously nor thought about long term outcome.ANYWAYS, since then i've been doing my psychology degree, full course load and in class (I relocated). I have a 3.8 GPA and have been volunteering for 3 years now. I've submerged myself in the
  18. Hoping to answer any questions people may have regarding OMFS applications for Canadian citizens. Things to consider: "Canadian-friendly" programs CBSE materials/preparation/competitive scores CV & PS Navigating the PASS Application Externships Interviews The MATCH Good luck to those applying in the next cycle.
  19. Hey everyone, So it's my first time considering applying to American schools and I was hoping someone would be able to share some info about MSU. From what I can see, it looks as though they are relatively Canadian friendly, as anyone who is a Canadian citizen can apply with full consideration given to degrees obtained in Canada. However based on their admission statistics on MSAR, they only accepted 3 from 500 international applicants. Seeing as how MSU doesn't accept non-US citizens, non-US residents or non-Canadian citizens, does that mean in this case Canadians were considered in
  20. Hi, I am a Canadian, and I am contemplating whether or not to rewrite the MCAT to apply to American schools. My overall MCAT score is 512 (87th percentile) The issue is that I don't know how much US schools care about overall score vs. individual sections. I have a 123 in one section, but 128/130/131 in the others! I also have a 4.0 GPA or close to. But My main question is about the subsection vs. overall score because in Canada individual sections are super important Some feedback would be appreciated!
  21. Hello, I'm wondering which US and Canadian med schools weigh the MCAT most highly in the admissions process? I recently took the MCAT and scored a 132/132/132/131, this is the first cycle I'll be applying to med school. I am a Canadian applicant (BC resident). Thanks!
  22. For those of us applying to both Canadian + American med schools: do we write the CASPER test once, or are there different versions of the CASPER test?
  23. Hey there! I've bought the MSAR, and have looked through it a lot... however I am having some serious struggles with deciding where to apply to. My cGPA is a 3.65 with a strong upward trend (first year GPA was a 3.0), my MCAT score is a 509 (poor CARS score), I am rewriting my MCAT this summer. I have already completed 90% of the AMCAS application, but now I'm questioning if it's even worth to apply.. Literally every school I look into has different course requirements, different letter of reference requirements, and barely matriculate international students. (What even is the poin
