Hello, I had some questions regarding the use of MCAT for Calgary MD program. Their website says the look at all the MCAT scores and use your highest CARS score for meeting the CARS cutoff requirement. My highest CARS score is 128 which should meet their cutoff. Based on my calculations getting rid of my lowest year, my GPA is also 3.89. My question is how important are the other sections of MCAT for receiving interview invitation, since my attempt with the 128 CARS is not the one with my highest total MCAT score. My highest MCAT score is 509. Is that even competitive. Is there any statistics for OOP applicants and competitive total MCAT scores? Thanks in advance.

Hey guys - just realized I may have screwed my chances at medical school. I applied to queens and western. My third and fourth years are the 3.88 and 3.87 respectively. I did a fifth year in 2020 and took three courses, which was my biggest, dumbest mistake because I ended up with a calculated 3.5 gpa here. I am terrified Queens will take this year and my fourth year as my last two, leaving me at a 3.68 gpa. Have I screwed myself over?

Hello wonderful people! I just finished my 4th year at a University in Canada - I'm a Canadian citizen, and I am currently planning to do my 5th year to boost my GPA and build up my ECs. I am almost done with my primary application for AACOMAS (DO schools), but I am a little hesitant to apply for AMCAS as well. Given that my stats are 3.65 cGPA with a strong upward trend (3.2 - 3.7 - 3.7 - 4.0) and 508 MCAT (127 125 127 129), should I give it a shot for US MD schools for this cycle? I am just worried because I heard US schools don't like to see reapplicants, so I was wondering if it would be better to wait and apply next cycle with a better GPA and a new MCAT score as a first time applicant. (I am rewriting my MCAT in September for Canadian schools, and I'm not going to declare that on my US applications to avoid any delays) I'm not really sure of my chances in the States as a Canadian student. [my EC: 2 clinical research experiences - one paid, one volunteer - with a publication, hospital volunteering for a year, international student training at a hospital, shadowing, executive positions at 2 school clubs, years of community volunteering] Any insights would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Hey guys, I have got the results back for This NOV Canadian DAT. As I predicted due to sickness I did poorly on DAT. Beside PAT which I screwed up completely the rest of DAT is bareable. I was wondering if you could tell me whether I have shot to get an interview this cycle. GPA: 90% (best two year) DAT (AA,RC,PAT): 20,18,14 EC: Pretty average. Thanks a lot in advance for your responses.

I've looked at a billion forums and discussions online, checked the university statistics but I want someone to give me the reality check. I'm majoring in Biochemistry (honors program) at a canadian university. I'll be applying to american and canadian dental schools next year. And my cumulative average is 81.55% and major average is 82.22%. Given that I do well on the DAT and that I will be doing my thesis this year, I'll probably be doing some dental shadowing, do I have a chance? I know other factors count but I need to know my chances based solely on the information provided.

Hi guys, I fortunately secured an DO offer but I am contemplating on whether to accept it or not due to financial and family concerns. According to sdn, rejecting a DO acceptance will significantly diminish one's chance for US MD but I'm wondering if the same holds true for Canadian MD school. Also, if I accept this offer but later reject due to financial problems, would this leave a record on my file? I am in serious dilemma so any advice is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hello and thank you for looking at my post. I will be graduating from McGill this year from Physiology and I'll be applying to UBC Pharmacy (PharmD). I currently have a 3.35 cGPA and last 30 credits 3.6 GPA. My prereq. grades are as follows: CEGEP: Bio I & II: 90, 83 Chem I & II: 80, 75 Cal I & II: 71, 73 O Chem I: 91 English I & II: 80, 85 Social Sci: 90, 82 McGill: Stats: B Microbio: A- Cell Bio: B+ Bioc: A- Great extracurricular activities. Lots of volunteering and clinical research experience: published 2 abstracts and 1 paper in a good journal as an undergrad. More studies on the way to getting published. My question is whether I have a good chance at getting an interview as an OOP student. Thanks again.

Hey guys, wondering if I have any chance/shot at all with my scores. last 2 year GPA - also my best = 3.95; cumulative gpa = 3.83 MCAT = 122/125/121/124 ;;;; Ya, I know they are pretty low; will have to re-write if I get nothing at all. EC's pretty good I think; 1 publication on the way, good leadership, etc... Do you think that I at least have a chance for the MCAT cutoff? Will they just outright reject me with my low MCAT score, and not look at the rest of my application? Thanks

Hi guys, I am very new to the process (new to the research stage lol) and just wanted to throw some feelers out to see if I could potentially be a competitive applicant GPA wise. I have a few more pre req's to get before applying. I'm thinking about applying to Dalhousie's Dental program for the Fall 2017 class. I am a Dalhousie student with a cGPA is a 3.69/4.3. Just finished my third year. I had a rough first and second year, so that is why my GPA is so low First Year --> Fall: 3.42 Winter:3.54 Second Year --> Fall: 3.67 Winter:3.34 Third Year --> Fall: 4.08 Winter: 4.22 Does Dal look at students having a full course load? I am thinking my GPA is too low to even be considered for an interview I have not wrote the DAT. What is a competitive score? Also I have no dentistry relevant shadowing experience. How many hours are a competitive amount? Or do they even focus on shadowing? What do you suggest my next steps be? Also for some reason I can not find a thread about the entering Dalhousie class of 2016? Could someone post the link for me. Any information would be helpful! Thank you for your time!!

Hello guys! I need a suggestion for my situation:S I am currently in my third year of the study at University of Toronto. However, I have not taken a full course load for the last 2 years. (First Year: 4.0 FCE // Second Year: 3.5 FCE // Second Year Summer: 1.0 FCE) In this case, do I have a chance of applying year after my graduation using my 3rd and 4th year? (I am going to take a FULL 5.0 FCE course load for this year and next year.) Also, I went to UWO website and they show the % average of students who got accepted. Are they using % instead of 4.0 GPA scale? Finally, what would be a safe range of 2-year GPA and Canadian DAT scores to get? Thank you!

Hello, I have been so thankful for all of you guys in this forum for suggestions and information. Anyway, I am planning to apply to US school for next cycle. (next June) What is called a safe range for GPA and DAT scores? BTW I have already completed American DAT this summer (July). I got (TS=20, AA=20, PAT=19) and QR, general chemistry, organic chemistry=20, reading and comprehension=19.. My GPA is estimated as 3.60-3.70 (I haven't really calculated yet but it will fall between this number) I have bunch of ECs including shadowing. Do I even have a shot for applying or is it gonna be waste of money?? Thanks always guys and god luck with everything I will look forward for some recommendations
