Congrats on your journey to medicine! My name is Victoria and I am a current UBC medical student. I was accepted to 5 Canadian medical schools: UBC (OOP applicant), U of T, McMaster, Western and Queens. The interview was my strong point- I was accepted to every school I interviewed at. I would love to pass on my knowledge to eager applicants, whether you have interviews coming up this year or if you just want to get a head start. I am familiar with panel, MMI, and mixed format interviews. I am asking $60/hr for any interview content of your choosing (mock interviews, practice questions, general tips, etc). I am only looking to work with a small group of applicants as I am a busy student myself. Please PM me if interested Edit: Thank you for all the interest! I am currently booking 1-2 weeks in advance. *all prep will be done virtually this year via Zoom
Hello Prospective Pharmacy Student! Imagine putting in every ounce of energy you have into your pharmacy school application only to wake up to an email containing a rejection letter - it can be incredibly discouraging. What's more is that there is such limited information available to guide you through your application process, and to advise you what's most important in your application. Is it your prerequisite GPA? Your cumulative GPA? Is it your work experience? Your interview or letter of intent? I can tell you by far the biggest mistake that applicants make is focusing all of their efforts into their grades and academic standing. About Me I'm a 2017 graduate from the University of Alberta and the owner/manager of an innovative, highly-clinical based independent pharmacy practice in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In 2020, I was recognized with a prestigious APEX award from the Alberta College of Pharmacy and Alberta Pharmacists Association. Over the past few years, I've held a 100% success rate in coaching several different applicants towards their admission into the Faculty of Pharmacy program at the UofA using my extensive combined experience as a pharmacy graduate, pharmacy owner, and clinical pharmacist. My Approach A successful applicant is backed by a strong, well-articulated letter of intent, and interview, which is where most applicants fail to stand out. I help coach students 6 to 8 months before their target application deadline by giving them proven strategies to ensure their applications are well-rounded enough to give them the competitive advantage they need to stand out from the hundreds to thousands of other applicants applying each year. Outside of this, I also help coach students towards finding the pharmacy volunteer / work experience they need to truly enhance their application, which I understand can be an incredibly daunting process. Services and Availability Given my busy pharmacy practice and schedule, I only have the ability to offer a limited number of students the opportunity to work with me at this time, as some spots have already been reserved for those who had reached out to me since my original post in the Pharmacy Discussions forum. And so, if you're serious about being competitive with your application this upcoming year or in the upcoming future, and you're interested in working with me, shoot me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and I'd be happy to meet with you virtually or in-person for an initial consultation to learn more about your unique needs, discuss how I'm able to help, what my competitive rates look like, and to see if there's a possibility we can work together. Looking forward to helping you reach your goal of getting into the pharmacy program!
Hi! I am a UBC med student and longtime poster on these boards on my main account. I am looking for a small group of applicants to build a long term client coaching relationship with, either in person or through Skype for the upcoming year for application review, interviews, etc! These following qualities will distinguish me from other coaches and professional application services; 1. Coming from a hard financial background myself, I understand the intense financial difficulties that applicants may face in seeking affordable help and the amount of uncertainty this process may bear. I will only charge my normal tutoring fee of just $40 per hour (regardless of Skype or real life). 2. I have 3 cycles worth of application experience- each with mixed results and gradually tuned my application from getting interviews from 0 schools to 75% of all schools I applied to. I have interviewed at writing and EC heavy schools including Calgary (OOP) and UofT 3. I have an academic background in a non-science field that demands extremely strong written, oral communication and networking 4. I have had interviews applying both as a non-trad and traditional applicant. I can advise you on how to optimally market your experiences 5. I believe in transparency and accessibility. I will tell you anything you wish to know about my experiences, within limits of the confidentiality signed during interviews. Feel free to shoot me up with quick questions after we begin our sessions over social media, but anything that requires a large amount of time or personalized review will require a meeting. 6. I will read your materials within 1-2 days then talk with you about them and how to improve during meetings. I am in Toronto for the summer and will be in Vancouver over the school year, so I am open to meeting students from both cities but I prefer meeting students in person whenever possible. I am only looking to take up to 10 students at this time, on a first come first serve basis. Please private message me if you are interested with your name and basic contact information.
