Hey everyone! I'm in my 5th and final year at Carleton studying HBSc. Neuroscience and Mental Health. I'll be graduating this year with a 3.2-3.3 gpa. I was looking into doing a second undergrad degree that will last 2 years. I've applied to UTSC health policy but I'm also looking for some other programs that will last the 2 years and would be a bit easier to get a good gpa in, please let me know of any suggestions. Hello Everyone/Salut tout le monde! I am a Quebec university student who is graduating from undergrad this semester. I’m planning on applying to a DESS (Diplôme d’études supérieures spécialisées) program at Université de Montréal before applying to Medicine and Pharmacy next application cycle. Let's cut to the chase: I’m wondering if being part of a DESS program will significantly hurt my chances of being accepted to the Quebec Medical schools, compared to a full-on Masters degree. Pros to the DESS (in my opinion): DESS programs are only 1 year of full time study, and many of them offer doing an additional year of directed study or a stage somewhere. Upon completing the additional year, I would graduate with a full Masters degree. Research isn’t really my favourite, and I would prefer to do a more application-based program, but not if it will hurt my chances, or not improve my chances, at getting into Med/Pharm . Cons to the DESS (possibly?): When I apply during the next application cycle, they will see that I have been working on a DESS instead of a Masters degree (not sure if this one counts as a Con or not, that's why I'm asking here!). I haven’t seen this discussed anywhere else, so if anyone has anecdotes or feedback of any kind to share about this situation, I would really appreciate them! -

Hello! I am currently going through a computer science undergrad degree (BTech) at BCIT and am interested in applying to med school after graduation. I was just wondering if my degree would be eligible since it's from a institute of technology? Has anyone gotten into med school from a technical school before? I'd love to hear from you! Hi all, I'm a 1st time poster who like some of you has been in university for quite some time now... I started out taking a BSc in 2011 (taking me 5 years) and received atrocious marks. I pushed through, graduated and took a year off to recollect. That year off has done WONDERS and I am now in my second year of nursing achieving about a 90% avg in my studies (still taking full credits every semester). I've enjoyed what nursing has offered me, however I wondered if there was any inkling of a chance of me getting into a med school. I searched through this website and found a forum (most recently updated in 2012) which outlined the policies that each med school in Canada had for students applying with a second undergraduate degree. Because I have always lived in BC, I would apply as an OOP student (with a second degree) to as many that I could be eligible for. According to the 2012 forum I believe my best bet would be applying to U of Saskatchewan (UBC doesn't really offer any revised gpa calculation with a second degree...). I was hoping to make a revised one and if anyone has any extra information on this topic, it would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks for reading!

I am almost done my BSc in Biology however, I have an extremely low GPA around 2.33. Yes, I know that's terrible. I keep telling myself maybe I should choose a different path, but I just can't. I have been volunteering at the hospital for a few years now. I am not athletic and I have not been leading anything in particular. But I still want to be a doctor and now I am more mentally prepared then I was when I began initially. What can I do to increase my chances as an applicant?
