Good day, I hope everyone is doing well. So I have asked about this in another Forum (under the similar username of this Premed101 account) and did get some positive replies from medical students and current undergraduate students. But I'm still facing the dilemma, so someone told me to post here in Premed101 to get more responses in order to make my decision. Please if you can take some time out and help me decide I'll be very grateful. I'm a 25y/o from Ontario, I dropped out of high school in my late teens due to personal problems and depression, then at the age of 21 I decided to go ba

Hey guys, I am a fourth year, finishing up a molecular biology specialist with a chem minor. I will be taking a gap year next year to apply for med school, and wanted to work full time in a research lab (wet lab preferably) in any downtown Toronto hospital for a full one year. I emailed a bunch of PI's past few weeks (google search) but none of them have responded, so I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong. I have a bunch of research experience/academic achievements under my belt, NSERC, thesis, etc. Am I just applying way too early (available to start working June 2019) or are mos

Hi everyone, I'm new to this website and this is my very first post here. I would just like to ask if anyone has taken a Gap year before they applied to Medical School (more specifically but not limited to, the University of Manitoba). I'm currently a sophomore student and my GPA is not very strong at the moment and I have yet to take the MCAT but I figured that I could just do it during my Gap year if I do decide to take it. I know that they (the UofM) do adjusted gpa but even if my gpa is adjusted, I am really not confident that it will be competitive enough... In fact, I think that b

Hi guys, So of course I would love to get into medical school on the first try, but to be completely honest with myself, my application is severely lacking. (No ECs, No volunteering, One summer of research, No pubs, No Submissions, Average GPA, writing MCAT next month). I would be devastated if I don't get in, but I wouldn't be all that surprised. I know this is really what I want to do, so even if it takes me 3+ tries, I'll do it. What should I do with my time until reapplying the year after? (Or for the 2-3 years it takes me to get in?) I was thinking about applying to colle

Hello, I hope everyone is well. I had a few questions regarding admissions. First of all I would like to lay out my information as clearly as possible. My cgpa is about 3.00 currently. I have currently finished my 4th year with a 3.725 gpa (with 5 full credits, 10 courses). I am planning on doing a 5th year to boost my chances. However, since Queens only counts full-time years in their 2 most recent year gpa, I was thinking of taking the more demanding courses this year as a part-time student and over the summer (since they don't count summer and part-time s
