  1. Is the common rate there 40%? Is it a fiercely competitive and saturated market there? I imagine it's not as bad as Toronto or Vancouver. Is it difficult to find good associateships jobs there? How about for surrounding areas (Airdrie, Chestermere, etc)? Thanks
  2. Hello! I am currently a second year medical student and am looking for a summer job. I was wondering which jobs are more suitable/appropriate for med students, if any? Looking for something that partially applies/is related to our degree, so not working at a restaurant or in retail etc. The only thing I can think of is perhaps working at a pharmacy but does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks for your help:)
  3. Hey all, hoping to get some input on being paramedic part-time during premed. I have a few friend who are paramedics and it seems like natural stepping stone for medical school. So my question is, it this job a good option? And would this look better on Medical school applications than any other job? Since the paramedic degree is offered in night school I'm pretty sure I can get it done in 4 months max. I need to be making some money during undergrad anyways right? (EMT also an option) Thanks in advance for any input Victor
  4. Hey guys! I noticed that a lot of Canadian students are dissatisfied about the range of relevant and paid clinical experience opportunities that are available to non-Nursing students. As you may or may not know, Nursing students can often be hired as Personal Support Workers, although I hear that this is getting harder and harder to find. I, for myself, work as clinical staff at a complex care hospital, but I worked really hard to get to this job and I wanted to share some jobs that are open to students looking for paid clinical experience. Now, my job has evolved from a Dietary Aide
  5. Hi there, I'm a student in my undergraduate studies looking to work in healthcare. The role of PA really stood out to me as it looks to be a great balance between working in medicine but also having the opportunity to have life commitments outside of it. I've been doing some digging regarding potential jobs as a PA however and I'm a bit worried as it seems most jobs only have enough funding for a year or so and are temporary. Would I have re-locate every couple of years for work here in Ontario or are full-time permanent positions also common? Is this a good career to consider
  6. Hey everyone, I have a couple questions about general surgery (ideally in Canada, specifically quebec and ontario, but open to all info) If I go into general surgery, I would want to remail general. If I do not specialize, can i still remain in big city or am I more pushed to be in a community? If I work in a community, do I have to live in that community or can I live an hour away? i.e. on call, can I say okay I'll be there in an hour? Any information on hours per week and schedule/vacation is greatly appreciated as well. Thanks!!
  7. Hi everyone, with summer already starting, I was wondering what kind of jobs you all hold or had as a current or past Undergrad student. I was looking to get a job but it's extremely competitive where I reside since most require about 1 year of experience or more depending on the job and all I have in my resume are volunteer experiences and some leadership roles. I've worked at a fast food chain when I was in high school (11 months) but I had to resign since I needed to move to the city to study. Even after applying to sooo many places, from fast food, to retail, to cashier. You name it!
