Hey OT/PT hopefuls, I am anxiously awaiting to hear back about interview invitations from various PT Schools across Canada. I study in a small town so there are not many other prospective PT/OT students around to do mock interviews, and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in making a facebook group (or similar) where we do video chats with Mock MMI/Answer Feedback? I've read about the importance of actually practicing answering questions and think this could be very helpful for students in a similar situation! *given that most if not all in-person interviews are canc

Hi friends! Congrats to everyone on their acceptances, you should all be very proud of yourselves! I attended Western for OT last year for the first semester but due to medical reasons I had to take a LOA, however I am returning in September to be a part of this years incoming class. So I'd be happy to help answer any questions anybody has about the program/ living in London, or if you just want to connect with a fellow classmate feel free to shoot me a message!

Hi! I have created this thread as I am deciding between UofT, Queens, and McMaster for OT (and I am sure others are as well). I was wondering if any current OT students or graduates would be able to answer some of the questions I had or just share some of their experiences at these schools. So far from my own research I gathered the following: UofT seems to have more of a research focus, with a couple of the courses being research-based (e.g. learning methodologies, how to write a proposal). They also have LEAP placements where one can be placed where there is no OT present or

Hello!! I’m applying for OT in fall. I am currently a psychology student, my cgpa is around 3.5 and my sgpa for this year is around 3.7. I’m currently taking some summer courses to boost my sgpa. I have some volunteering and research experience as well. Last year I had a very bad year and failed 2 courses, I also WDN a course due to my mental state. This year I have retaken those courses and I got back into honours, but due to the coronavirus situation I WDN a course and now I realize this may have been a bad choice and that it will look bad on my application next year. Does anyone have exp

Hi ! I'm torn between two programs at McGill (nutrition and OT) for Fall 2020 and I was wondering if anyone that is currently in the OT program at McGill or knows any details about it could reply and give me details about it. I do have some volunteering experience in hospitals but I haven't had the chance to shadow an OT. I have been looking through forums in the hopes to find more information about the program but couldn't find any valuable details. Thank you in advance to anyone that takes the time to respond !

I'm a second year kinesiology student planning to do a masters in OT at either Western, UofT, or Queens. My grades are mediocre. To better my application and resume do you guys think doing a certificate related to OT can help with my application? I know the grades I get from my certificate won't count towards my GPA but would it make me stand out more? I'm thinking of either doing Certificate in Disability Management at University of Guelph or mental health/ addictions certificate at Ryerson (Both are taught online). Not sure which would be a better fit. Any advice would greatly be appre

I thought it would be nice to continue the tradition of having this thread for applicants! Copy and pasted from the previous years thread. Here's how it goes (use this format): Applied + (PT or OT?): Accepted: Waitlisted: Rejected: GPA: (cum and sub if you applied to any University using them both) Perceived strength of essays/interviews/references: Good luck everyone!

Hi there, I am starting at the University of Alberta in the fall to study Occupational Therapy. I am from Ontario and won't know anyone when I move to Edmonton at the end of August, so I have been looking for a somewhere that current OT students at UofA could tell me what the program is like, or where would be a good area to live in Edmonton - and where other new students looking for roommates could connect. Please comment if you have any advice, or if you will be joining me at the University of Alberta for occupational therapy!

Hello, I am currently applying to OT school in Ontario for the second time. Currently, working part-time as an OTA/PTA as I completed that diploma last year and taking courses full-time to upgrade marks. However, most classes I am enrolled in are either DE or have lots of students, so it is difficult to appeal to the Professors. I know for the application it is recommended you have at least one academic and one clinical reference, but it seems like I would likely have two clinical references. Does having no academic reference hurt my chances? Thank you!

Hello, Does anyone know how many spots the UBC MOT waitlist typically moves? I tried searching this forum for information from past years, but so far no luck. If I find any info I'll be sure to update this post. Also for individuals who were waitlisted for UBC's MOT program in previous years, but then were offered a seat, what was your initial waitlist number? Thanks EDIT: Also, does anyone know if this information means that for 2017 intake, there were 365 applicants for the MOT program, admission offers were given to 66 individuals, and a total of

Hi Everyone, I know it’s still super early, however I have been looking into housIng options near McMaster because I’ve heard the nice ones go quick! I found a really nice two bedroom apartment within walking distance to the school. Therefore, I’m looking to see if any female OT student is also looking for a roommate. Feel free to message me if you’re interested

Hey everyone! I just stumbled onto this forum so bear with me. I'm hoping to get into OT at either Western or McMaster and I am considering moving. Is anyone else considering looking for roommates? Would love to live with someone in the same program! I know it's early but I just thought it would be nice to have some sort of plan since may is really late to be scrambling for leases. Thanks friends!

Hey everyone! Has anyone heard back from UBC MOT yet? Usually, interview invites are sent about a week after MPT, but perhaps we need to wait another week Also, I heard that the interview is not a 3-person panel this year, but rather will be in MMI format. Is this true?

Hi Everyone, I'm a 1st year OT student at Queens, and I will be looking for 3 people to join my house beginning in September. Its a two unit, and I live in the basement unit with another 1st year OT, but the upstairs I will be looking for 3 people. I figured I would create a platform where people searching for housing can also look for a roommate, as I think it would be great to have a house of OT/PT students. Once you get your acceptances there will be a facebook group created, and that also works as one excellent platform, so I highly recommend you join that as well. If you have any ho
