Hello applicants! I am a fourth year Resident Physician offering medical school application consulting and review for applicants, especially those who have applied previously and were not offered an interview or acceptance and would like to perfect their activity summaries, personal statements and application essays. I have had previous experience as a medical school interviewer, CARMS interviewer, Canadian Medical Association Mock Interviewer and with completing application review for individuals applying for our residency program. During our consultation, we will review your application, statements and essays. I can assist with editing and refining your application to highlight the key features application reviewers are looking for. I have templates for Activity Summaries and Personal Statements to assist with organization. I have worked with multiple undergraduate and medical students to help them gain acceptance to medical school and residency over the past 4 years. I am also happy to assist with applications for other professional programs such a dentistry, PA, physiotherapy, optometry etc. If you are interested in booking a free meet and greet or would like more information, please email: masterthemmi@gmail.com. Limited availability on evenings and weekends due to the demands of residency, application review will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Best of luck to all of the 2023 candidates!

Hey y'all, I have recently found the desire to pursue medicine in my mid-20s, I am currently an Emergency Department RN and working in this setting, seeing what Physicians do an their expanded scope of practise has given me a strong desire to pursue a career in medicine. However, during my undergrad I was not focused on this, I had a full time job as well as the demands of nursing school so my cGPA was around a 3.38 (Best two years were not great either, did not break 3.6). So that being said I have been considering a second degree, however I don't want to do a degree just for the sake of it because I know my heart won't be in it. I am currently applying for Physician Assistant (I had gotten admission in the past but was unable to attend due to financial difficulties at that time) and I am wondering if I do well in the program, will I be in good standing for medical school in Ontario? Any guidance and feedback would be appreciated. For those interested, why PA? Well it follows the medical model and the education pathway is more attractive to me vs the NP route, as well, if I never get in to Medicine, I can see myself being happy as a PA. I work with both NPs and Pas so seeing the nuances of their practise and opportunities really informed my decision.

Hello! I didn’t find any posts about the current application cycle and I am wondering if anyone wants to chat while we wait for the offers/rejections to come out (on the website it says up until May 15th?). The wait is killing me! How did you find the MMI? I personally was so nervous for the first station that I felt my entire body get hot and pretty sure I turned bright red . Hard to get a read on how the other stations went.

Hi I'm a U of M nursing student who's graduating next semester. I'm looking into PA program recently and found out the GPA cutoff are usually around 3.7-4.0/4.5.. I had 3.8 GPA before starting nursing and many of you already aware faculty of nursing does modified GPA where 95%+ is considered A+ ,85%+ is A and so on.. compared to 90+ as A+ in other faculties. After 4 years of that, my last 60 credits of GPA (unfortunately all from nursing faculty) dropped to 3.2.. I know they take other things into account like letter of recommendation and EC. I am doing my senior practicum in VGH day surgery unit soon and I already have over 800+ hours of direct patient care in long term care and acute hospital setting (from clinical rotations). Also I am planning to ask letters of recommendation from profs in nursing who directly supervised me during those clinical rotations. only thing that's bothering me is my GPA.. did anyone from nursing got into PA program? do you guys think I still have chance with 3.2 GPA? thank you in advance! + the only reason i'm not considering NP program is because U of M NP program requires 2 years of work experience as a RN.
