Hi everyone. I am currently a fourth year physics major at a university in Ontario. I have never taken a bio/biochem/orgo_chem course in university. So I have no solid background in most of what the MCAT covers. My cGPA is 3.82 (with the best two years of my three averaging to 3.95 on the OMSAS scale). So that gives me a little hope. In addition, I do have 2 years of solid research experience so far. Right now, I am thinking of pursuing a Masters in Physics (with a focus on radiation oncology physics) after undergrad to give myself some room to study for the MCAT and also have more things under my extracurricular section. Do you guys think this is a good move? What do you recommend to a pre-med like me? Do I have a chance at any Ontario schools? is it too late? I would appreciate your advice.

Hey guys. Since I have tried getting in to med school in Canada a couple of times now, I want to broaden my chances and try to apply to American Med schools for the upcoming application cycle. However, I only took one semester of physics during my undergrad and I graduated already. In order to fulfill the requirements for USA Med Schools I need one more semester of physics. Has anyone taken Physics in the summer and can make me recommendations of which school they took it at? Physics is not my strong suite so I would prefer an easier school. Also I live in BC so if it is out of province it would have to be online. Thanks in advance!

mcat Summer Courses and Studying for the MCAT
nerdy_unicorn posted a topic in General Premed Discussions
Hey guys I’m really confused as to what I should do and can really use some advice. I originally wrote my MCAT last summer and I didn’t do as good as I wanted to (Canadian). If I don’t get accepted to med school this year I should retake the MCAT this summer. I also want to expand my options and apply to USA schools this summer. However the problem is I didn’t take physics 1 (only did physics 2) and it is a prerequisite for basically all the schools. So would it be doable to study for the Mcat while also taking physics 1 condensed? Physics 1 would be running from May 1st to June 15th and I will retake the Mcat like early august or end of July. Basically my four options are: rush the Mcat retake prep so I can take the Mcat before summer school physics starts. I have all my notes from the first time I took, I just need to work on cars and review my notes again but I feel like I don’t remember anything lol. just take physics 1 in the summer (lectures are Mon/Wed and virtual (covid) labs Wed) while also studying for the MCAT screw applying to American med schools and just leave physics and study for the Mcat full time this summer for Canadian schools only. Taking physics in the fall isn’t an option for me because I’m starting my one year masters program in the fall. Also most Canadians don’t get into USA schools so is it even worth it? take the MCAT and just apply to USA med schools without the physics prerequisite and if I get into a school I can try to take the one physics course the summer prior to matriculation. If anyone has experience taking a class while also Mcat studying let me know thank you! -
I am I med sci and I don't know if I should take physics 1028 (with Poepping) or physics 1301 (with Wong). So, could someone help me? It would be greatly appreciated. BTW I haven't taken grade 12 physics.

Hi all! I have a question about the science prerequisites for McGill. I will be applying this coming year (for Fall 2019 admission) and I'm trying to get all the prerequisites completed. I will, however, only be able to take the second physics course next winter term (i.e. winter 2019) and I was wondering if that means I'm ineligible to apply? I know by then they will have sent invites for the interview. Since I will be enrolled in the course at the time, does that mean I can't even apply? Or is there a way they give conditional offers? Thank you!!

I am preparing for my upcoming MCAT test date this summer on August 25, 2018. I have taken all pre-requisite courses (biochemistry, general physics, general biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, psychology) except sociology. I also am graduating with a bachelors of science majoring in the biological sciences. I was wondering, would the 10th edition of ExamKrackers be sufficient for content review? Or will certain books need supplement? I have heard possibly that the biochemistry and psychology and sociology books are lacking (but only for the 9th) not much on the 10th edition. I was thinking of supplementing with Kaplan biochemistry and Khan Academy psychology and sociology 100pg document. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey I was wondering if anyone has taken either of these courses recently and could recommend one over the other. I'm first year med sci and I'm decent at physics if that helps. Thanks!
