Hello all, At the moment it seems like McMaster is my best chance of getting into medical school. How much of a disadvantage would I be in if I don't have any publications going in (I wanted to write one this summer but our labs have all shut down). In 3 years how much can you feasibly do in the research aspect at McMaster. I am not aiming for anything super competitive, thinking either IM or FM for the most part.

Hi guys, I am very new to this community, so sorry if this question has been asked before. I saw in many of your posts that students have publications (as leading or 2nd, 3rd authors) and conference papers which is really amazing. I wonder if anyone can provide some insights on how can undergrad get their research published. (i.e. is the published work done in summer or you have to stick to a project longer). Thank you so much in advance!!

For a university such as UofT which prefers its MD applicants to have research experience, do you think having publications can "make up" for a lower wGPA such as 3.88? I'm worried that I will not be invited for interviews due to my low marks but I have a lot of experience in research and in my opinion, good ECs. Thanks in advance!

Hi all, Long story short I'm doing my masters and then trying to apply to apply to med. The two lab I'm debating between are like this: Lab 1 - Super prestigious (better reference letter) but longer projects (with more impact) medically oriented. Super low chance of getting first author, probably get 1 middle author paper. Two middle author papers if lucky. Lab 2 - Solid lab, publishes a ton, not medically oriented but still biology (molec in animals). Students usually get at least 1-2 first author publications and have chances for other pubs. I'm planning on applying to U
