Hello everyone, Please allow me to introduce myself. I am an Alberta university student of African descent, and I am obviously as seen with my post interested in applying to pharmacy. I am currently completing my third year of studies in Biological Sciences and I am just wondering out of curiosity what the racial demographics of the U of A pharmacy school are? For instance, have the incoming classes been predominantly white, are there black students, are there Asian students, etc.? Also, I am wondering if there is a relatively even split of male-female students? I don't w

Hi, I'm a bit confused regarding LORs for U of C vs U of A and U of T. According to U of C's manual they would like each of the 3 referees to speak to a different set of attributes. While for U of A and U of T, I understand its just 3 generic LORs? In that case, would the referees have to produce 2 different letters (one for U of C, and one for the other 2 schools) or would the letters made for U of C suffice for the other 2 schools as they combine to speak to a comprehensive list of attributes? I figure its a lot to ask the referees to produce 2 sets of LORs but would really appreciate

If anyone could help me out here that'd be awesome. I'm wondering if I should apply to pharm this year or wait another year. My GPA is 3.55, I am going into my fourth year, but will have one more semester left afterward. My last two years GPA is ~3.7. I have shadowed two pharmacists, volunteered in two hospitals, am a varsity track and field athlete, have a variety of other volunteering experience, etc. I also would be considered an IP applicant in both BC and Alberta and as such would like to apply to both UBC and U of A. I am wondering if I should apply this year or wait another ye

i wanted to do a second degree in the bachelor of science in kinesiology, but after seeing what classes I have left to complete after all of the transferred credit it seems daunting. I really can't mess up my GPA in the next 2 years and have to keep it as close to perfect as I can. These are the classes i have left below. Any input would be appreciated as I'm really stressed about this decision.. Mostly I'm concerned about how I have to take them crammed into 2 years. For all of you who have done the kinesiology degree or are currently in it and have done these courses, how are they? Will it b

Has anyone been able to get around the following policy at the U of A?: "Students who have completed 120 or more and who have either not applied to graduate, or who have applied but have not met graduation requirements, are permitted to register only in those courses necessary to complete their current program as quickly as possible. Such students must have the written approval of the Associate Dean of Science for every course beyond 120 in which they register." wondering if anyone has successfully done a full 5th year with a fall and winter semester at the U of A.

Hey everyone After a talk with a faculty of science advisor at the University of Alberta I realized that they have this new(?) policy/rule of forcing people who are trying to do a 5th year to only take the classes that they need to graduate especially after they've gone over the 120 credits needed for graduation. How do I get around this? Has anyone experienced or is experiencing the same thing? I asked them if they would actually force me to drop my winter classes and he nodded and said that yes that is likely what would happen. If I explained the situation to them do you think they would

If you are reading this, CONGRATULATIONS! It means you likely got into meds/dents/residency program at U of A! Now it's time to look for a great place to call home for the next 4 years + ! My wife and I are relocating back to Calgary, so we are selling our condo. Before we bring on board a realtor, I thought I'll throw a post here. Let me tell you a little more about our condo first and see if it's something you are interested in: Address: 9917 - 110 Street. A concrete apartment building called Rosedale Place. Adult only. It's on 11th floor (out of 13), corner unit. 2 bed 1 bath,

I got a dent interview at U of A, and I'm just wondering if there's anyone in Calgary who also got a dent or med interview, and want to meet up and practice? We can form a study group, and give each other feedback!! Let me know, we can either meet at MRU or UofC. Thanks!- 3 replies

Does anyone have any advice regarding what Awards to list under the PA section? There are 4 slots so I want to put my best 4 out there, but I have no idea what Admissions are looking for ! Diversity? I could list a leadership scholarship, volunteer service award, athletic scholarship and research studentship (although I may use research in my work experience, in which case I wouldn't be able to use the research funding here) OR academic scholarship Prestige? Research and leadership awards are named awards, but the others are pretty generic Monetary Value? Academic and leadership sch
