It seems that US medical schools start earlier in the year and end later... is this incorrect?

***NOW UPDATED WITH THE 2019 MSAR*** The new MSAR values are given at the top of each school's description with a heading MSAR 2019. Note that this means using MSAR values released on 2019. They're for class entering fall 2018. Hi fellow non-Americans,As noncitizens, we face greater difficulty than Americans - there are schools that flat out reject any international applications, schools that say they accept but never really interview anyone (looking at you, Tufts and Baylor), and schools that are super friendly towards us. Of course, they're all on MSAR, but unless some screams MSAR

I’m a USMD applying to Carms for internal med this year. I did 3 months of electives including a CTU elective in Canada. I have 3 solid letters from Canada that I want to use (2 from the same CTU elective plus one from a subspecialty) and one solid one from my home CTU in the US that I’m wondering about. Someone told me that it looks strange if you have no letters from your home CTU. Can anyone confirm this? Any thoughts? I was planning on just using the Canadian ones since my US letter writer won’t have the name recognition here and may not know the vocabulary to use to get the in

I've had a rough start to my undergrad, and hope someone (anyone) help me out, especially canadians who have gotten into US medical schools . Im really sorry in advance for the long and possibly annoying post, but here it goes: Im a 3rd year undergrad student in Canada,Ontario. My first year i've gotten all C+'s (assuming this is a 2 something on the american scale), and this was with a reduced course load! Here's the problem, I cant apply to Canadian schools because they heavily penalize students who haven't

Hello, I am a long time lurker, and this is my first post. I was wondering if my fellow Canadian comrades could post some statistics on their GPA/MCAT/ECs and what US MD schools they're currently attending so I have an idea of the level of competition. Just confirming I am a Canadian CITIZEN. Also, I have the following stats, I would really appreciate some feedback and perhaps recommendations on certain schools that fit my experiences/scores: 516 on the MCAT (129/128/130/129) 3.8 GPA (Perfect GPA last 2 years, how significantly do they care about trends??) ECs: Lo

Hey guys, I'm at a cross-road for where to go if I want to continue the dream of getting into med school. I really goofed up my first couple years leading to an ~3.4 GPA after 6 years (5 years of BioSci and 1 year Psyc minor). The last 2-3 years were decent with a respective 3.6, 3.96, 3.8 GPA. Unfortunately I can't seem to get over the MCAT hump having written 3 times with a 500, 501, and 502 scores. The last one (502) had a 126 in CARS so I decided to apply to UofC and UofA being from Alberta (although definitely not holding my breath). I have very good ECs including fluency in 3 languages,

Can you guys let me know which banks were easiest to get a loan from? I'm hoping to get into a Canadian school but if not I'll be going to the US. I have several interviews lined up in the coming weeks. Worried about finances since my family is middle class. Thanks.

Hi all, so my situation is as follows: cGPA 3.95 for past 3 years since im a 4th year undergrad 512 MCAT with (131,124,129,128) sections are listed in order they appear so 124 is the CARS. I've heard of people getting USMD interviews with scores like 12/7/14 on the old MCAT, just don't know how a 124 in the new MCAT is viewed. decent to average EC's like hospital volunteering, basic research, tutoring etc... Just wondering if I stand a good chance at an interview for USMD even if its a low tier school. Would appreciate any feedback. Also I'm thinking of applying with my score

Question for current US MD candidates: So I've applied to a number of US MD schools and had a few interviews which I felt good about, but now I'm having pretty serious doubts about how paying for all of this is going to go since the current USD/CDN= 1.33. It would just really suck if I were accepted and but then had to be relegated to the Caribbean because US MD was too expensive. Ontario is a possibility where I stand, but I can't depend on it. I understand that Canadian banks can give me LOC up to $275,000 CAD, that OSAP can help a bit (anyone know how much?), and I've got a small pa
