Hi Everyone! A little while ago I made a post asking whether a 5th year would benefit me more than a Masters would in my pursuit of med school. I have been looking into what a fifth year would look like for me (Currently in health sciences at Western) and a counselor had told me that next year I would be registered at a "Special Student". I would technically graduate this year since I satisfied all of my degree's criteria but I could come back with this new status. I have never heard of this new status as a special student before and was wondering if med schools do in fact consider this i

Heyo I'm graduating from Western this year in Health Sciences and looking to take a 5th year as a special student. I have contacted uwo, mcmaster, queens and uoft, all of them have said the special year will be considered as long as I meet the quota for a full course load (Western hasnt gotten back to me yet but I think this is the case for them as well). Second semester is looking pretty good but it's difficult to tell because of the strike (barely know my marks). So my cGPA, weighing my first semester as a half year, is 3.812. Using the U of T weighting formula (from my understanding, it would be take away 3.0 lowest grades

Hey guys! I'm not sure if I'm reading the UofT admission stats accurately (link below). For the degree statistics, does "Non-degree" strictly refer to applicants who were in the third year of a 4-year undergrad at the time of application? If the above is true, is this primarily a reflection of relatively few third year applicants (which seems unlikely)? 7 out 259 seems to me like a third year applicant is NOT viewed equally as his/her hypothetical 4th-year equivalent, even though the official admissions statement suggests otherwise! I'm assuming most third years who are confident e
