Class Hours

Recommended Posts

Year 1-2 at Sherbrooke was:

Monday: 3 hour PBL, sometimes a 3 hour lecture (25% of weeks)

Tuesday: Sometimes a 3 hour lecture (50% of weeks)

Wednesday: Usually off, sometimes clinical skills

Thursday: 3 hour PBL

Friday: Almost always off

I'm guessing that this isn't the norm since Sherbrooke is 100% PBL.

This is basically the same as McMaster. 6 hours of PBL, 3 hours of professional competencies, 3-6 hours of lectures, 3 hours of clinical skills, 2 hours of anatomy a week. The only things which were mandatory were PBL, clin skills and pro-comp.

At U of T in the new curriculum we typically have 6-9 hours of lecture per week, 5 hours of CBL, 4 hours of clinical skills, and 3-6 hours of anatomy, plus 3-9 hours of independent study material to at some point during the week. All in all it usually adds up to ~22-25 hours of class per week + the independent stuff. All but 3 hours of lecture are usually mandatory, and the independent stuff gets done on your own time.
