lasko.heater
I was talking to med students and was told that if one scores few points over the MPL, they may not do well when it comes to clerkship. Is this information true? How much over the MPL do you have to score to feel that you learned the material well.
shakeshake
I don't think this has been studied, but clerkship performance is a lot more subjective than a paper test. It's hard to assess a students core knowledge and most people will fall into some range of average. Strong clerkship performance is often more closely related to: showing up on time, being helpful, not getting in the way, reading around your cases, writing good notes, following up on your patients, responding to feedback, completing assigned tasks. You will often not know things and most attendings won't hold you to that. It's important to read around topics you get asked about and have gaps in knowledge in, as it doesn't look great to get the same question wrong multiple times.
