GPA dilemma

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am in a dilemma right now.

I have a GPA of 3.77 but I am currently taking first-year English course and expect to receive a 2.3.

It will bring my GPA down to 3.72.

Should I drop the course or continue on?

Does McMaster calculate GPA using only courses completed in undergrad program only or do they calculate courses taken after undergrad as well?

I graduated in 2016, if relevant.

Thanks.

McMaster calculates any and all undergraduate courses, regardless if in degree program or not. Drop the course.

At the end of the day your GPA is worth a third of your interview score. Still depends on MCAT CARS section (1/3) and CASPER (1/3).
So what's your MCAT CARS score?

Here's my own personal experience:
I had a 3.70 GPA /128 CARS didn't get interview.
This year I had a 3.77/128, got on the waitlist, and finally got the interview two weeks before the interview date.

I think my GPA definitely helped me get that little boost to getting on the interview waitlist, but again, who knows how well you can do on the CASPER? I could've improved signficantly on the CASPER (I spent a lot of time preparing for it this year). Also, I know people that had 3.95 GPAs and 130 CARS that didn't get an interview...so anything can happen.
