I think the movement on the waitlist is quite good...I would agree and guess that probably half the people on waitlist will get offers but can't say for sure...

stay positive folks, im an OOP student with an offer to UBC. I'm just waiting for OMSAS results to come out. Most likely, I will decline my UBC offer and free up a spot on the waitlist. I know a couple of other OOP friends in the same position, who are just waiting for OMSAS.

It doesn't differentiate, but often OOP are more likely to get in because 1) a higher percentage of accepted OOP people decline their offer, freeing up space within the 10% available OOP seats and 2) the OOP people on the waitlist tend to have stronger overall applications, otherwise they wouldn't have made the interview stage.

Does anyone know that if UBC over accepts intially when they give out acceptances? Or is it 288 seat/acceptances and then those who decline, their position is offered to the waitlist applicants?

Just checking: has everyone replied to the waitlist poll? Link below. I'm curious what proportion of the waitlist pool the current number of votes (22) represents.

If you look at the stats from UBC they say 38-40 are accepted off the WL for the past 3 years. Wish you all the best!
