Althervi
Hi everyone, I was hoping for a bit of insight on my chances for the upcoming cycle! my last two years of undergrad calculate out to a 3.88, but my CGPA is a 3.62. I am applying to Canadian schools exclusively this year and I'm planning to choose those which take your last two/two best years.. I know Western and Queens, but would be really grateful for some other suggestions of where I could apply. I'm taking the MCAT in late August! Not sure if it changes things, but my extracurriculars are pretty good - president of an international organization, research at a reputable hospital, 5 years of bedside experience, 3 years of health promotion, etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Best of luck to all those applying this year.
m_jacob_45
I would add Ottawa, Mac, and U of T to your list. You never know if a school you’re not expecting will be interested in you. I was surprised to get an interview at Mac with a 3.73 and 129 CARS, so I think you would have a chance there as well with a good CARS score. Althervi
Thank you for your reply, that's really helpful and offers a fair bit of hope. I don't have some of the prereqs Ottawa asks for, namely the organic chem and biochem courses - do you think they would be worth taking so I can apply? Medase
3 minutes ago, Althervi said: prereqs If your Ottawa wGPA isn't higher than 3.85, it's not worth applying. I called them once and their cutoff for the English stream is 3.85 (to not be computer rejected).
Dalhousie23
You can also apply to Dalhousie, as they will take your 2 most recent years of undergrad, if you applying whilst entering your fourth year. Your ECs sound good. I would suggest you aim to score 511+ on the MCAT to be competitive. (High CARS too, if you want to go to those Canadian schools where they only care about that).
