Maja D
My preceptor offered me an opportunity to work on a research project he has and said that there is potential to apply for scholarships in near future and I was wondering if it’s a good idea to accept this opportunity ( I will have to do research during my second year of med school). Will it make any difference in my Carms application. I will be applying for a competitive specialty.
Aetherus
What specialty are you applying to? Regardless, I would say this benefits you and increases your chance of matching to this specialty. That being said, if the specialty is not very competitive, then it might not be necessary. If the specialty is very competitive, you would have to have a very good reason for refusing the opportunity.
Lactic Folly
Odd question. How else would you plan to distinguish yourself from other applicants, if they had research + letters based on those longer-term relationships with preceptors, and you didn't?
