Reference Requirement

There is nothing on the uOttawa medical school admissions page about the necessity of reference letters. Does that mean I can just apply through OMSAS without references this year?

Was wondering this too... Maybe they grade it on a P/F basis or just for red-flags?

I called the admissions office and as usual no one answered. I left them a message so we’ll see if they call back!

I called them  yesterday specifically about this. They said they require 3 confidential assessment forms (through OMSAS) as per "directions on OMSAS website"... I write this in quotes because I see no directions on the OMSAS site about University of Ottawa requirements for references.

So how does that work? I don’t see a link on OMSAS for Confidential Assessment Forms.

It seems this year you submit 3 contact information of your referees and they will fill a form to rate you on different aspects and then a final question of: do you recommend this candidate to the MD program (yes/no). Referees had to always fill a form like this on top of the reference letters but it seems now they are openly admitting they never looked at the letters (lol).

what the deadline for ottawa for references to be submitted? Queens is November 1st, wondering if Ottawa's is later on too?

Don't think so, I think it's October 1st.

Last year a friend called and they said it would be ok to send by Nov 1. Not sure if that's still the case, but best to call and make sure
