CASPer Help

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

This forum helped me A LOT when I was preparing for CASPer. I have accumulated a lot of resources with other medical students and have complete responses to 144 questions (4 casper tests). Please let me know if you are preparing for that exam - I along with a lot of other medical students are helping out with CASPer test! I am not too sure if pdf files can be shared via messages, but feel free to email me at casper.prep.2019@gmail.com. Here are some tips: Most of the scenarios will be non-medical.

Strategy 1: Ethical Scenarios

  • Gather all the information + Any alternatives that can please both sides?
  • Talk about the best-case scenario / your actions / consequences
  • Talk about the worst-case scenario / your actions / consequences

Strategy 2: Ethical Scenarios

  • Understand Side 1 Perspective + benefits/harms
  • Understand Side 2 Perspective + benefits/harms
  • Any alternatives that can please both sides?
  • Choose your action + provide rationale

Extra notes for scenario questions:

  • Always talk about the two alternatives, potential consequences and then talk about which one you could go forward and justify why (potential consequences could be stated here in the justification). Even if you have a strong opinion for one side of the situation – acknowledge the other side and the perspective with respect and empathy

Use key phrases and buzzwords such as:

  • Recognized the importance of open communication
  • Ensure a collaborative environment
  • Bound by professional obligations and code of ethics to act
  • Clearly communicate
  • Negotiate
  • Empathize
  • Without jumping to conclusions... instead of being non-judgemental ...
  • In a private setting,...  instead of "confidential"
  • After self-reflecting on this thought-provoking situation...
  • Integrity

Be very concise. Do not summarize the video or the prompt. Just respond to the question as concisely as possible. Be kind in your response. Hope this helps!
