Ferdobob
Hey guys, Im currently in 4th year in a Ontario university. I decided to get into med school in like the end of 2nd year. That being said, I realized that I needed to bring my grades up and met some requirements. When I looked at the Uottawa program, they had prereq for certains class like 2 class in bio, 1 class of chem and so on. All of those class were taken in my first two years and they were also my worst ever where i barely passed my classes. For that reason, I thought it would smart to basically retake them so i can meet those prereq and also have a higher gpa. The thing i did not realize is that Uottawa is the only university that has those prereq and almost (i think) all universities cancel a semester if you retake a class. Now my initial plan was to add an another year and then apply at the end of my fifth year so Uottawa can use my wgpa of the last three years. (I bring up a lot of Uottawa because it was my initial plan until i learned how competitve it is and i should try to apply to several univeristies. I am wondering what I should do now. I have to take a fifth year now in order to graduate from my programm but what should i do after. Should I still apply and have a plan B in case or should I not even bother applying and do something else. Thabks

MedicineLCS
OMSAS uses a 4.0 system and you need to convert each course individually, so as annoying as it is, calculating your OMSAS gpa would be most useful.
Meridian
See OMSAS conversion guide here. You convert each course grade to a GPA out of 4 and then average them for each year. https://www.ouac.on.ca/guide/omsas-conversion-table/
