Extra Procedural Skills Training/Education Workshop for Family Practice?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know of any family practice procedural skills workshops that focus on common procedures done in office such as knee/shoulder injections, IUD insertions, foreign body removal, ear lavage, silver nitrate cauterization etc?

Any info would be appreciated! Or, if they know of a physician who would be willing to offer added training and education on such topics?

I know that Western has one on knee joint injections and such later in the year, but they have yet to release the dates.

Are there any others that typically run for MDs and/or allied health? Looking for workshops in the GTA Ontario area, preferably.

How about nerve blocks? How do family physicians learn how to do those?

I've never seen a family physician do one of these especially with the recent focus on ultrasound guidance. It's more of a PM&R/anesthesia thing. The GPs who do them probably did a third year in sports medicine.
