NSERC USRA is for non-health science related research topics (stands for Natural Science and Engineering Research Council Undergraduate Student Research Awards). If you want to do health related research, it's the CIHR (Canadian Institute for Health Research). You can find the NSERC website easily though Google, but you apply through your post-secondary institution's system. To do research, you find a prof. Then you plan out a research proposal with them. Then you apply for one of these research grants through your school (and any other grants offered by your school). Then you cross your fingers.
