OTPTPT2021
Just writing here to see if anyone could help me/have suggestions for my situation. I completed my application for Dal OT in October and as far as I know my application is 100% completed. But when I checked Dal Online, it shows that I only have one reference letter. I emailed OTadmissions and Kelly told me that they received no reference letters (?). So I emailed Dal Graduate Studies and Electronic References to confirm and they told me that they have received both reference letters. I copied the email and sent it to Kelly who told me she would look into it. Almost a month later I still haven't received her email so I checked the forum and saw that people already got their letters of acceptance. I'm a NS resident and my sGPA is 3.9/4.3 so I'm surprised that I still haven't gotten anything from the school. I emailed Kelly again on this past thursday and she told me that nobody will be receiving anything information regarding their status of application until the end of May (?) - whereas some of you (from Atlantic Canada) have already gotten a response from the school - and there was no words about whether my situation has been resolved. I'm very disappointed in the way the school communicates regarding this situation as well as their transparency. And I'm worried that they haven't even looked at my application since they thought that the letters were missing. I'm feeling really down atm because I know I have a strong application but it may not have been considered. When I emailed grad studies they told me to email OT and when I email OT nobody answers my questions properly. I just don't know who to contact at this point. I'd really appreciate if someone has any insight into this and congrats on those who have received your acceptance so far. happycat

Besides uoft, the other PT school's put more emphasis on CASPer (don't quote me on that tho). So I might of not done the best on CASPer. Plus, for uoft 3.85 is pretty below average. Not saying that you can't get in with that, but you just have to do really good on the CAP exam. With the higher cutoffs for uoft, I'm expecting the average sgpa to be higher as well this year, but I could be wrong PTPTPT

I have to say the graduate application system in Dal was probably the worst compared to all other schools I have applied. Very old fashioned, not up to date with the technology and pretty low efficiency too. Therefore, I wasn't surprised that MMI was canceled this year very last minute too. Your stats is really strong! My fingers are crossed for you. OTPTPT2021

Hopeful2022
Hi! Can anyone offer some clarification into how ouac calculates GPA with part-time summer courses? I don't really understand the description they have on their website and I'm looking to apply to OT next year. I took a few part-time summer courses that I hoped would count for my sGPA calculation. Do they count individually or is it the average of all the part time courses together? Thanks! :)

Do they count individually or is it the average of all the part time courses together? Thanks! Hi current OT student here! They basically move backwards to count your last 20 credits (1 credit being a half year course) however sometimes this doesn't perfectly align with an 4 even semesters if people took summer courses or courses after graduation which is why they have to average sometimes. For example if you have 17 credits toward your SGPA and in order to get the last 3 credits you need to dip into a semester that you took 5 courses, they would average your GPA over that semester and multiply by 3 instead of randomly picking 3 courses. As far as I know your summer courses will be counted individually but if they have to dip into a semester to get to 20 credits that is what they will average. I know it's very confusing hopefully this helps!

LoriACP
Hey everyone, Hoping someone can answer my application question on here- I am a Nova Scotia resident and I applied to Dal OT, but I haven't heard anything back yet, but I know of several other Atlantic residents who have... Im currently taking the physiology pre-req, so could this be a reason I haven't heard back? Or is it because I'm probably waitlisted or rejected? PT_EP
Hi everyone, I am not applying until next application cycle but I just wanted to confirm something about sGPA calculation. I'm just in the process of sorting out my courses for next year and I just want to make sure I'm putting myself in a good position to ensure that I can keep my GPA high. I am going to be applying next year, which for reference I just completed my fourth year (doing a fifth year to boost my average, get more PT experience as a uni student, adding a psychology minor onto my degree, etc.). Looking back at my last 20 credits (half year courses) at the time of applying: 5th year FALL 2021 semester: 2 credits 4th year WINTER 2021 semester (the semester that just finished): 4 credits (total = 6) 4th year FALL 2020 semester: 4 credits (total = 10) 3rd year WINTER 2020 semester: 5 credits (total = 15) 3rd year FALL 2019 semester: 5 credits (total = 20) Would that be accurate? They count your fall semester grades at the time of application correct?
