date for interview results release?

Recommended Posts

I do have a little M Huncho that the interview invites will not be sent out December 14th (nor indeed that entire week). All that UBC said regarding interview invites was "make sure you have internet from Dec. 14th and on", so that actually is making me think we're looking at a late December type of situation. Especially with the delays in the application opening this year. I tentatively predict that the first people to receive interview offers will be Dec. 23rd (with rejections earlier in the week)

Even though there have been a lot of changes this year I think they will follow their usual formula:

Day 1 - Regrets

Day 2 - Early invites

Day 3 - Invites

If you want a certain interview time or day, I recommend keeping an eye on your email between 10 and noon on the day.

I would assume the regrets could come out as early as Monday Dec 14th.

Good luck eveyone! I know how scary this time is.

I hope you're right - would rather know ASAP than non-ASAP. Plus I'm not rlly tryna get rejected (God forbid) around Christmas lmao

I think this is mostly right! Last year they did send out regrets in 4-5 waves of emails over two days though -and anecdotally it seemed alphabetical according to last name. Then day 3 early invites, and day 4 invites. Who knows what they'll do this year.

@acrylicblue You are correct. I remember most of the regrets going out on Day 1 and then some more regrets going out the next morning and that was so upsetting (it did seem to be the end of the alphabet).

Moral of the story, you cannot totally relax until you get that interview invite.

Hopefully it is all done quick this year.

@Excel-erate Your Breath Oh no?! More waiting? I'm sorry, that is so hard. This year seems like it may be done differently than previous ones.

The process of applying to med is so hard and filled of so much uncertainity. Make sure you take care of yourselves during the process and remember that a rejection does not mean you are not worthy. Many of my classmates had to apply multiple times before they got in and many worthy applicants are missed every year.

First time applicant here and I'm just wondering whether rejections are usually sent out first before acceptances? I understand that UBC probably has received so many applications this year, but stretching the interview invite for about 2 weeks is not helping at all. I'm currently in the middle of my exam season and I can't help it but think about the high chance of receiving an R this year. :(

We might hear from UBC starting tomorrow. Good luck everyone :)

Historically it's rejections first yeah. Some years ago, that used to mean that one could predictably guess that UBC would reject people on Monday, invite early interviewees on Tuesday, and invite general interviewees on Wednesday. They haven't stuck to that plan in recent times (re: last year) and the stretching of the 'interview invite season' this year has led people to believe they will not be sticking to that plan this year either.

But yes, even though the exact plan of how many days are rejections and how many are invites might not be clear, rejections traditionally have come before invites. So we're expecting the first rejections to start rolling out tomorrow. (Probably starting with applicants with last names beginning with A...would hate to have Aaron as my family name right now lol.)

I would say personally the thing I struggle with the most is the fear of the unknown, i.e. I won't be in school next year if med doesn't work out (which is not a strange thing, since there's many applicants in the same situation), and I don't know what my plans will be for next year yet. But once you step back and realize the fact that you even applied to med school, you also realize how well you could easily fill a role in another area of life (I said that poorly, but basically what I'm saying is, the majority of med school applicants are amazing well-rounded people who could find work in a caring industry quite easily). And that's a comforting thought, I'm definitely going to be looking for employment (already have been tbf)

I'm already braced for an R sometime this week, due to poor study habits early in my degree, but I also know that I 'deserve' to get in to medical school, whether that's next cycle or the one after or or or.

I think everyone knows deep down if they believe in themselves truly or not. (Maybe I'm wrong and this is just how I experience the world only lol I don't know!) I personally believe in myself and I know I'll get in eventually. If I want it bad enough by the time next cycle rolls around. Being open to other things in life is also huge!

Who knows, I might realize in May that I don't actually want to spend another 4 years as a student. Life isn't uniform for anyone, and don't let yourself think it ever has been for anyone. Even the people who seem like they had a uniform easy 'normal' path to medical school (or anything in life) did not. 100%. We only get to see their average trajectory, and we see that they went from point 1 to point 2. We never saw all the micro-trajectories, like the time they went from point 1 to 1a, then 1d, but something happened and they dropped to 1a, then more stuff happened and they went to point 0.88, but success followed that and they got to 1c, 1d, 1e, 1f, oh no back down to 1b...you get the point

Best of luck brother/sister/whatever you want to be called <3 and to everyone reading this

lol i wonde

lol i wonder when they'll release this year

I predict sometime between December 1st and December 15th

In all seriousness UBC does seem to get decisions out quickly relative to other schools, maybe Dec 6 to 10. But the crystal ball was filled with milk when I checked it today

My guess is that decisions will be coming out in the 2nd week of December, with an update from admissions in the 1st week of December.  Last year decisions rolled in around December 18th, and the application deadline was October 1st. This year the application deadline was mid-September, which makes me think that 2nd week of December is the most realistic guess
