Severe pain in toe

A few weeks ago, I was experiencing pain in my left toe. I was having difficulty walking. This has made it difficult for me as I could not drive or walk up to my office, which affected my daily routine. At first, I thought it was the problem with the shoes that I have just bought, which might be of small size or have some other kind of problem affecting my toe. I purchased another one from a branded company with a much larger fit for my toe, and still, the pain persisted. I visited my doctor, and he gave me a couple of medicines I have been taking for over a month and even haven't improved. Could someone help and advise me on this?
