Recommended Posts

Result: Regrets

Time Stamp: 12:03PM EST

cGPA/wGPA: 3.80

Year: 2nd Year MSc

MCAT: 130/128/128/128

ECs: Probably my weak part, 25-50 percentile for UBC

CASPer: should be good - got invited for Mac with 3.80/128

Disappointed bc I thought my CASPer went well and I may have a chance. I guess probably EC is pulling me behind. Congrats for those getting an invite and good luck on the interviews!

Time Stamp: 12:07 PM (showed up in Promotions)

cGPA/wGPA: 3.69/3.73 (first degree)

Year: 1st year of 2nd UG

MCAT: 514 (130/127/130/127)

ECs: A lot of long term volunteering, plus many different executive position in school run clubs. Co-founder of a student run organization to help students prepare for post-secondary. Also currently an employed health-care professional.

CASPer: not sure how it went, felt good about it tho!

Low GPA most-likely held me back, Queens was the only school I applied to this year and I knew it will be an R but it still stings. This was also my first application cycle, so hoping to learn and use my second degree with a better GPA to apply to more schools next year and hopefully hear better news.

Good luck to everyone that got an interview! You guys better kill it !:) & those that did not keep your head up, keep grinding, you are all amazing and we shall hear better news in the future XD

Result: Invite

Time Stamp: 11.10

cGPA/wGPA: 3.97

Year: 4th year undergrad

MCAT: 128/127/128/130

ECs:  Nothing special. A lot of long-term commitments. I got waitlisted last year at UBC after an interview, but this year I was rejected pre-interview and scored in the 0-25th percentile for ECs. Shows what a crapshoot this whole process is.

CASPer:  - Felt reasonable but not totally sure.

Invite/Rejection: Invite (second time around, fingers crossed this time I get in!)

Time Stamp: 11:10 AM EST

wGPA: 3.75

Current year: Post grad

MCAT: 130/130/125/131

ECs: Full time job in federal government (Health related field) since graduation (~3 years), many years of long term volunteering in various areas, 3 black belts, academic and work related awards.

Casper and Snapshot: Thought I did horribly on Casper since I was so sleep deprived, didn't do the snapshot. Didn't get invited to interview at McMaster but honestly my GPA just isn't up to muster so I'm not surprised.

I interviewed on Kira last year and was ultimately invited to the panel, so I'm pleased I have that 'edge' for this cycle. Fingers crossed that two is the charm!

Congratulations!! Just to confirm, your CARS score is 125? Gave some hope for those with not so "high" CARS lol

Result: Regrets

Time Stamp: 12:04 PM EST

cGPA/wGPA: 3.52/3.82 [MSc GPA 3.89...not that it matters much]

Year: 2.5 years post grad-school (MSc 2018)

MCAT: 512: 127/130/125/130

ECs: Varied: long term and short term volunteering both clinical/non clinical settings/orgs. Varied work experience -lots of experience with vulnerable populations through non-profit/NGO positions locally and internationally. Ethnic community involvement. Op-ed writing, poster pubs, 1st place case competition, a few academic/community involvement awards and also included my hobbies re: language learning, running etc.

CASPer: Felt good -prepped a fair amount but I also got an R from Mac soooo (though my cGPA alone tanks me in the Mac applicant pool lol)

Knew it would be a long shot but the R still hurts nonetheless (second app cycle for me). Congrats to everyone who got an interview this cycle... wishing you the best!! :)
