Congrats to everyone who is getting in! And good luck going forward for those who got an R or are on the waitlist! Don't give up! For those of you who got a letter, would you mind sharing your stats? Curious what my chances are! I was accepted on Friday and am so excited, like everyone else I'm sure! IP. I really hope we are in class this fall, not online for Phase 1. I wanted to comment to say that it is not just about the stats. Those who are neurotic about stats may be wasting energy and end up deficient in other areas of the application. Your patients will not care what your grades were. They want excellent care, and to get better or stay well. I have a 2.97 uGPA (~78%) and 507 MCAT. I bombed CARS. The rest of my application was top notch. I think #1 for ECs this year was standing in the line of fire during the pandemic. If you worked, volunteered, or otherwise helped out during the pandemic within public health or acute care efforts, this is a good indicator that you will likely step up in the future as a physician when times get tough. For those who didn't get in, I hope you are already killing it for your next application. Don't hold back. You've got this! firelordzuko, Swag_xo, KY11 and 2 others

And congrats on your acceptance! My apologies if I came across neurotic or insensitive in my post. Thanks for the reminder that, at the end of the day, stats aren't what will make someone a great doctor and being a good doctor should be my goal, rather than whether or not I'm getting in this year! One of the things I'm most excited about for medical school is how diverse our backgrounds are going to be. Some of us will be athletes, others academics, others activists of various kinds. etc. each with our own educational and personal background as well! It's going to be awesome working with a group of motivated people that brings so many unique experiences to healthcare and really hope that I can be a part of it this year, and if not will definitely be applying in the future! but once again, I think what you said is very important, so thank you for the reminders ! Good luck everyone! KY11 and jmn753

Limes
No confirmation e-mail here either. I'm such a weirdo that I'm still checking the e-mail every so often waiting for the damn confirmation e-mail so that it's really real. I've also read the acceptance letter too many times. DNDRMFLN
Little late to the party, but wanted to share my experience/stats in case it could help someone prep for future cycles. (also posted in the main thread). Accepted: IP applicant (March 12, ~10:30 AM) GPA: 3.9/4.0 MCAT: 509 Casper: Not great I didn't think (too low to get an interview at Dal this year). I definitely underestimated it and did not prepare as well as I should have. Recommendation: give yourself a solid 3-4 weeks of prep for this. Find a strategy that works for you and get really really good/fast at applying your strategy to different scenarios. Essays: Spent a whole summer writing, editing, and rewriting 5-6 drafts. Recommendation: take plenty of time to reflect as you write these. Think back to when you were really young and how all your life experience since then has shaped your desire to pursue medicine. Try to answer the questions in each section without drifting too far off-topic. Don't be afraid to show some emotion in your writing and explain what matters to you and why. Try to avoid using too many descriptive adjectives without backing them up with meaningful examples. Interview: Prepared daily for ~3 weeks. Recorded myself answering questions and took notes on where I needed to improve. Had partner/friends review my recorded answers. Watched every prep video known to man (do not recommend this, it just makes you more stressed). Bought a cheap ring light from Amazon so I didn't look like a zombie on camera. Recommendation: You will find thousands of strategies online that claim to have the "holy grail" method for answering MMI questions. Pick a few to review but don't get too bogged down by them. I think the key here is to piece together a strategy that works for you and refine it as you practice. There is no one size fits all solution to approaching MMI questions, but over time you will get good at picking out the important bits and putting together a coherent answer. With each question, try to interject something about yourself.. an experience you had, a time you faced a similar situation, etc. If you're on the shy/introverted side (like me), then you have to try hard to let go of your inhibitions and really put yourself out there. Some small things: have a neutral background, don't use a chair that turns/has wheels (you will be spinning all over the place and not even realize it ), lock your cat in the basement... ECs: let's just say I have a lengthy/diverse work history lol.. I think the biggest thing here is to have ECs that show that you have an altruistic commitment to your community, family, friends, etc. I could be off base by making this assumption, but I don't think you need thousands of hours of volunteer work to be a good applicant. Rather, focus on things that you enjoy and find ways to gain meaningful experience through those things. You want your application to form a cohesive narrative, so being able to talk in-depth about some of your stronger EC experiences in your essays/interview is probably not a bad thing. Big congrats to those that got in this year! look forward to meeting you. For those that didn't get the news they hoped for this year: Don't get discouraged! Take all that you've learned this cycle and put it to work for next year.

Bandersnatch
Any idea when NB letters will be sent out? I saw the last two years it was beginning of April but for several years before that it was end of March? Any insights/speculation?
Limes
Not that it's of much help, but I certainly feel for you. The wait was long enough for us IP people, I can only imagine waiting an extra month or two. Hopefully you'll hear back soon, and worst case scenario you could call them and ask if you're feeling brave!

PEIhopeful97
Definitely hoping for today! Don't want to have to wait the entire long weekend ! Horseshoe50
Hi everyone!! I’m just very curious reading through these, what invites went out in March? And why are there some coming out now? (I am OOP and got declined before the interview but I’m still following this feed and I’d love to know)

The in province applicants (NL) were announced March 12th, the NB/PEI pool was announced today, and the OOP pool will likely be announced next month some time! Bandersnatch
Anyone have any info on the NB waitlist? Wondering how much movement there typically is and how many are typically on the list. I know MUN doesn’t make that info available but just wondering about previous applicants’ experiences.

Based on conversations with class of 2024 students, MUN's waitlist typically sees a lot of movement. They mentioned around 10 offers being sent out to people who were waitlisted last year. There's likely a lot of overlap between MUN's NB waitlist and people accepted at Dal so a lot of movement is normal.
